Great West Firewood - Sherwood Park

I always buy my wood from Great West Vacations for over 7 years. Excellent quality and have never had an issues. Reliable and trustworthy.

We had rented a fishing boat from Great West Vacations Inc and picked it up on June 11th,2019. Rita with Great West Vacations had taken a credit card payment of $1000 and a deposit of $5000 from us before we had arrived on the 11th. While doing the walk around Rita with Great West Vacations had shown us a tension strap she had made to pull the windshield in tighter from the port and starboard sides to prevent the door in the windshield from bouncing around (As it was quite loose and missing one latch) She had also shown us the cover she had made (not specifically designed by manufacturer) to keep dirt off the floors, this left the windshield wide open and it was attached to the frame of the windshield, this cover had several broken snaps in which is was supposed to connect to the boat windshield frame and outside edges of the boat.(This cover caught a lot of wind as seen in the photos) Within 20 minutes of picking up the boat, the port side windshield had broken, we had called Rita immediately and taken the boat back as this needed to be addressed. When we arrived and spoke with Rita, showing her the windshield (Which has several screws toe nailed through the window frame into the boat to secure it) she had told us we could take the boat or leave it as a refund would not be offered. Rita had also mentioned that she would have a glass expert look at the window to tell her the most plausible way it would have broken (The tension strap pulled the frame inwards 1/2"). Not wanting to loose our $1000 and not have a boat for our Father/Son fishing trip, we reluctantly carried on with it. Once we arrived to the lake where we were staying and fishing, we had noted the Captains chair was broke on the back rest, unable to lean back into it without it bending over, the rod holders were broke and glued back together, the boat guide rail on the drivers side of the trailer was missing, license plate of trailer was horribly twisted and crushed, speedometer was not working on the boat and several make shift repairs were done. We had taken photos of everything at this point before we had even launched the boat into the lake. We had cleaned the glass out of the boat from the window that had broke and taken the extra carpet out that Rita had put over the floor to make it easier, as this carpet was taken out, another pile of glass between the two seats was discovered with sand mixed in with it (again, we had yet to use this boat) leaving us to believe the window had broken before. (denied by Rita) We had dropped off the boat back to Great West Vacations on the evening of Saturday, June 15th 2019. My Father had flown back to Ontario the following Monday morning of the 17th. Before he had landed my Mother had received an email invoice from Rita stating we owed $2381.40 for the broken port side window. Which would be tough to have a window flown up from the USA and replaced. Regardless if that was possible or not is not the point. Today June 25th, I had received a quote with installation back from Legends Boats,( as they would get the same window from Taylor Made windows out of New York) This quote, with window installed was $1252.04 tax included. I called Rita this evening (June 25th 2019) to voice my concern about the $1109.36 difference she had billed us for. She told me she gave us a discount and the window was actually $5000. I disagreed with her and asked if she could send us the invoice for repairs to ease my mind, she refused. I told her I would be calling the Better Business Bureau as Great West Vacations is accredited through them. Rita's response was "Go ahead, I have all my documents in order" and hung up on me as I tried to discuss the discrepancy. Again, not how a business owner should deal with unsatisfied customers she just billed for $3481.40 (picture of broken window below) Definitely not $2300 let alone $5000. Great West Vacations was awful to deal with and I would not recommend anyone use them for their rental needs

Bag was half full of bark and kindling. 495 dollars for a pile 72 inch long 16 inch wide and 48 inch high. Tried to talk to them and was a waste of time. Go elsewhere. There are better places to buy wood...

We rented a beautiful Rockwood tent trailer from Great West Vacations. Rita was very patient with us in explaining how everything worked. The tent trailer was in great condition. We rented for a week. During that time we forgot how to fire up the furnace. She told us to call if we had any questions. So we called and Rita answered right away and talked us through everything. We were worried when we packed up the trailer, it was pouring rain and that the tarps would not be dry enough. She was so understanding and kind. She has a shop, so she dried it out. We would rent from Great West Vacations again in a heartbeat. So professional and transparent with everything!

Excellent service. Have bought wood here for years. Everytime, the quality and quantity has been very good. I just went again last week and Rita help us out and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with our order with was nice. We have rented their tent trailer also, the cleanliness and quality of the unit along was above standard. I have rented from a variety of other companies as well as private owners and Great West is our favorite. They were transparent with terms for the rental and presented in a way that was easy to understand. We had some trouble with figuring out the water heater and contacted them. They responded quickly and helped us walk through it. A very fair, kind and professional local business. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend them to anyone.

I am so grateful for Great West Vacations. I’ve had so many less than stellar experiences renting tent trailers and buying quality firewood. Our experience was phenomenal. Rita was so nice to us. She took the time to explain everything to us before renting the trailer. She even had an video set up that we could watch. Then we packed the trailer up with her guidance. She offered that if anything were to occur to not hesitate to call for help. Sooooo.... when the time came, we needed help, because we couldn’t start the furnace because we forgot the steps. We called and she answered right away. Rita walked us through each step and we had an awesome furnace fired up, nice and toasty. We also purchased firewood for our trip. We just bought firewood. It was dry and great quality. We still regularly go back for our firewood and have never been disappointed. Their firewood has been excellent quality and feel we get more than our money’s worth. We plan on renting again from them and look forward to it!

I just bought firewood this week for our outdoor Christmas activities and am so happy. I have never been disappointed. Quality firewood again and great service. I've picked up firewood for great West for about 4 years now. Everytime the bins are full of nice, quality pieces that burn so well. I rarely post reviews but feel compelled to post because I've noticed some competitors and other posting negative comments that are not accurate to any experiences over the years that I've had. To be in business for as long as Great West Vacations has been, you can guarantee the have quality wood. As any of their regulars! Thanks Great West Vacations!

I’ve sent many of my friends to this business because they simply have the best birch. I started with the car totes and just recently bought 2 of the supersize bags. Nice operation! Both the firewood and the people serving are great! I’ll be back! Just a gem of a business!
