★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Patience is a virtue! We ordered for delivery today at 5:30pm and it arrived at 8pm(we were told 1.5 hours max) . I can appreciate that places get busy. I called after 2hrs I was told that it's dark and hard to find, which is directly off a main island road, 15 minutes driving from door to door. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service with this order has made me not want to buy again going forward.
2 stars as it tasted ok but service is everything in the restaurant industry!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vast improvement compared to when I was a kid. We've eaten here four times in the past two months and will continue to do so. Our family has eaten Chinese food our whole lives and this place exceeds expectations (which were pretty low, given past experience before October 2020). Keep up the good work!

Was ready in a timely manner, the food exceedingly fresh tasting. Very impressive sweet & sour prawns: the batter crispy, light and (again) fresh, did not feel heavy afterwards.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having grown up in Richmond and comparing most of the Chinese food I have had in my life to what I ate in Vancouver's Chinatown and in the plethora of restaurants in Richmond I was blown away by the quality and flavor of Golden Island. Though perhaps leaning more towards the North American style Chinese food of small towns across Canada and this US this gem was exceptional in the flavour and the overall quality of their food. The sweet and sour had a tang to it without being icky sweet, with more of a natural/traditional colour to it rather the day glow orange you would normally expect, the ginger beef was crispy yet tender, the fried rice was light in in texture but full of flavor... but most of all nothing even the deep fried menu items were greasy.
The next time we are on Salt Spring we will be making a return trip... actually we may make the return trip just to come back to Golden Island.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Last night we went the Golden Island with another couple. This was the first time since before the pandemic began. We were WOWED, the service , the food, the atmosphere were all world class. We are pleased to put the Golden Island back high on the list of great restaurants on our Island

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall food is okay with meat tender and vegetables crisp. Issue is the amount of grease that is included in this especially the chow mein. It was soggy, greasy and lacked flavour. The egg foo yung tasted like a pancake batter rather than egg and almost uneatable. We have had it here other times as well and though it was much better it still needed improvement. Service on the phone and picking up was very friendly and helpful. July/2021. Much improved. Excellent one person meals with 3 entrees. Much improved!! Delicious , healthy and low fat! 02/13/2022. Egg foo yung delicious!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food here is really good! We ordered on a Sunday evening (delivery for a small fee) It all arrived super hot and pretty fast. Everything we had was great and big portions too! The BBQ pork is a standout dish here.
