Winnipeg has a wide variety of food types and restaurants to enjoy, however, if you’re searching for fine Ethiopian dishes and a friendly atmosphere, then come on down to Gojo Ethiopian Restaurant located on Sargent Avenue! Using authentic recipes dating back, and only the freshest of ingredients, we are sure you will love and enjoy every bite.

A few of our main dishes include the tasty Gored Gored, the Kilkil, or the Gomen Be Siga. The Gomen Be Siga is a beef stew cooked with kale, onion, jalapeno, and Gojo’s signature special spices. Another popular dish is our Tibs, which comes as your choice of either beef, chicken, or lamb, and is cooked with spiced butter with peppers, onion, garlic, tomato, a touch of rosemary, and other spices. It is also served with a side salad. If you’re into vegetarian dishes, then check out our Misir Wot, or our Shiro dish, which is spiced chickpea flour cooked in berbere sauce, and served with a house salad. We also carry a few combo dishes perfect for filling that appetite. Check out our menu today to see what other great meals we have to offer!

We went to Gojo today for lunch... and it was awesome! The owner was super friendly, the portions were big and the prices were very fair. The restaurant is very clean and nicely kept. The picture is of the Vegetarian combo. We will definitely be going back!!

This is the best spot for Ethiopian food that I have ever been to! I have tried Ethiopian restaurants in difference provinces and nothing compares. The injera is perfect, the veggie combo is one of my favourites! The owners are so so amazing and accommodating I will always come back for more! I have always left with a happy stomach and I can’t help myself from craving this all the time! Thank you for giving Winnipeg the best Ethiopian food and some of the best service I have ever received! I will always be supporting this local business!

Love the owner. I said I wanted a mixed platter; and he just smiled and said he knew what to get for me. What I love is that each individual item has its own unique taste and spicing. The injera is divine and the prices very reasonable. We now order for the whole family! Delicious!

Gojo Ethiopian Restaurant was a great experience! I went to try Ethiopian food for the first time, and we really enjoyed it. I went with the veggie and meat combo, as per our waiter's recommendation. I wanted to try as many things as I could to get the full experience, and I definitely got that with this combo. I don't really consider myself to be a huge vegetarian food lover, so I wasn't surprised when I didn't love all the veggie items. However, the meat items that came with the combo were amazing. One thing I was very excited to try was the injera, which is the spongy, bread-like dish that is used as a vehicle for the other dishes. The taste caught me a little off guard, as it has quite a bit of tang to it. I assume it's made with some sort of yogurt or milk, maybe. It was also served slightly cold, which was a little weird admittedly, but I'd say that I enjoyed it overall. One thing I feel like I should mention is that the service was beyond incredible. The gentleman who served us was very helpful and nice. He made us feel very welcome and was more than happy to answer our questions about the food. Considering this is my first time trying Ethiopian food, I'm not sure how this ranks up to other Ethiopian places, but being someone who loves trying different foods, I really liked what I had here.

Food was really yummy. Very good behaviour from the sever/owner. He suggested us the platter. We took vegetable and meat platter and it was enough for 2 of us. We ordered one extra bread and can coke. Couldn’t believe altogether it was around $18. Really good portion comparing to the price. Highly recommended. Would like to visit again.

Such a top-notch place! An especially strong point is that when you have no idea about East African food they have a very reasonably priced group combo that gives you an introduction that is unforgettably delicious. We have been back many times I will be again. And the coffee…. Wow!
