I called ahead and asked for a 40 to 44oz tomahawk ribeye. It was no cut when I got there so spoke to the butcher so he cut me one. Ended up up being 68 Oz and costing me $93. Should of told me that it was going to be way over and I would not of gotten it. But already cut it Will not be returning!!!!!

This was our first time here and we will definitely be back! The woman was so helpful and knowledgeable, the selection was huge and the prices were amazing. We are 20 minutes away and it is worth the drive. It is a Mennonite Butcher Store with lots of other items, and has been in business for 55 years. Definitely recommending this place! 10 stars!

My Thanksgiving Story This holiday I ordered our turkey from Goeman’s Lakeshore Meats. I try to take turns buying meats at local meat stores. I know small businesses have struggled during this pandemic and I do my best to support them. I sent my younger daughter over to pick up the turkey and she came home with a 22 pound bird. We have only six people to feed. When I ordered the turkey, I asked for approximately 15 pounds, and mentioned that a smaller turkey would be preferable. Naturally, I was told they couldn’t guarantee a specific weight, but a pound or two over or under was likely. Having purchased fresh turkey before I expected this and readily agreed. 22 pounds is not a slight overage. My elder daughter called the store and explained the situation. She did not ask for money back or to return the turkey. We know that to do so violates Health and Safety standards and the bird would have to be thrown away. This would result in a grievous waste of food. We cannot conscience that when so many are hungry. The supervisor was polite and saw in the book that we had ordered a 15 pound bird. She was extremely apologetic, and said she would refer the matter to the owner. This is where the problem should have died, but: Owner: Our ranges vary from 11-14 , 15-20, 20-25lbs. You asked for 15. You should asked for 11-14. Me: How would I know what your ranges are if you don’t tell me. I’m not a meat distributor, you are. *Thanks for putting the blame on me* Owner: Well if I had taken the order I would have asked if you wanted the 15 pounds a little smaller or larger. (I love nothing better than when someone in charge throws a staff member under the bus). Me: Well you said your next range up is 15 to 20 pounds. 22 pounds isn’t in that range either. Owner: Well, we will make a note so you get your preferred size at Christmas. *Note that I did not receive any apology or even acknowledgment of her workplace error* Bold of her to assume we are shopping there anymore, let alone buying a turkey at Christmas. I have no problem with people making mistakes. I have a whole lot of trouble when they don’t own them. A simple β€˜I’m sorry’ for the error would have sufficed. We are thankful we can afford quality meats. And FYI, that poor staff member better not take the heat for this. I wish I knew her name so I could defend her. All I want is for the staff to be made aware so the mistake doesn’t happen again. Goodbye Goeman’s. You just lost a loyal customer.

Purchased a $69.99 Prime Rib. Prepping it for the oven discovered a pound of fat had been placed on top--not attached, and then tied up with string. This added approximately $20.00 to the bill. How many others have been ripped off in the same way? This is the worst business practice I have ever encountered.

My last half a dozen purchases from Lakeshore meats has been very disappointing. Tonight for example, I pulled out 4 ribs steaks, they cost me over $100 and they have a funky smell to them. When I went there last week to purchase these steaks and London broilβ€˜s….they had meat in the cooler that was starting to turn dark, not that fresh pink colour. I asked the girl at the counter to give me a different London broil and she said β€œoh it’s because of the lighting that it looks like that.” No. If you know fresh meat it should be bright pink / red. When I got home the following day I had a piece of Keilbassa I had purchased there. It also had a sour smell to it. I should’ve called and complained or brought it back, I know. I have spent at least 500.00 there in the past few months they have always been reputable, but they have gone downhill and are making dangerous decisions by keeping meat in the cooler for to long. I and will not be returning.

Mom called and set aside a steak pie for New Years Eve dinner. One can purchase pies made in store as well as Scottish meat pies. All the of the staff was welcoming and friendly. I’ve always heard the radio ad on local stations but this was my first visit. I will shop here again..especially when bbq season comes back ( even though bbq season is a year round thing for some ) in the spring. I included photos as the selection was impressive. And most importantly... to me at least - the floors were clean. Come check it out! Do it!

We have been going to Lakeshore meats for many many years. Who ever is in charge of hiring needs to be fired. Your market place against all others is your service. Great service is what makes you stick out above the crowd. Of course nice product, which you have. You have some great employees. Trisha is the best, what a doll. She is so great with customers. Marie who we have known forever, she is wonderful. Also Kim who knows how to have fun. All of these woman get how to do the job. Recently though it seems the other staff have no interest in making the customer feel welcome. When we first started going here you had to take a number at the door because you were so busy. Good luck surviving your competition with poor wait staff. The last time we were there I had to wait 12 minutes for someone to check me out. REALLY! Look at how this 60 dollar prime rib was wrapped
