On October 1, 2009, Chef Derek Turner and his wife Kristi, became the proud owners of Gliss Steak & Seafood. This dynamic team stepped closer to realizing their dream of making Gliss Steak & Seafood the best steak and seafood restaurant in Northern Ontario.
Chef Derek, a graduate of Sault College’s culinary program, has over 23 years of culinary experience. His experience includes being the Executive Chef of Gliss in 2006. Under his guidance, Chef Derek and his teamat Gliss have won several awards including awards from Savour the Night:
Platinum Award — As selected by the judges as the “Best Appetizer” based on presentation, degree of difficulty, workmanship and composition.
People’s Choice Award — As selected by the People as the “Best Appetizer” With over 23 years of experience.
Derek felt such a strong connection to Gliss that he made the transition from Executive Chef to owner and hasn’t looked back. When stepping into Gliss, you can expect fresh and imaginative meals. β β β β β We had an incredible dinner at Gliss last week. We did not know what to expect as this was our first visit to Gliss and I can say it was FANTASTIC - from the service, to the ambiance to the quality of food - this place will NOT disappoint. We ordered coconut shrimp and escargot for appetizers - sooo good. Entrees were fall off the bone ribs, incredible whitefish and the most delicious stuffed chicken wrapped in Phyllo pastry. The service was amazing, attentive and accommodating. The next time we are in the area Gliss will definitely be our dinner spot. Thanks for a delicious meal.

β β β β β I took a hot date here and he said he could cook a better meal from home. The salad was fresh, the marinara and pene was not. Also, the staff openly discriminated against customers based on their medical status.
