Nina Nyalowo is registered social worker who provides services in Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia. Nina practices from person-centered, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, strength-based, harm reduction, and trauma informed perspectives. She prides herself in being kind, empathetic, and genuine with clients.
Nina’s counselling approach is guided by a combination of formal education, research, and lived experience. She uses an integrative approach that is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Compassionate Inquiry, Narrative therapy, and Solution-focused therapy, among others. From personal and professional experience, she has gained experience in working with issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, anger, trauma, dementia, racial identity, spiritual identity, school/work/life stress, suicide ideation, self-harm, racial based trauma, life transitions, gender and sexuality diversity, and coping skills.
Nina’s approach looks at the whole person, so together, you will dive into all aspects of who you are: physical, mental, social, and spiritual; past, present, and future. Collaboratively, you will navigate your struggles, challenges, and/or areas of your life that you would like to see transformed.
