A wonderful place with Fresh Organic choices. The best thing is getting good quality Grass-Fed Milk especially the Chocolate flavored Grass-Fed Milk. However so far so good have everything available and gratefully their services make we come back almost every single day. Thanks

Today is the day I finally write everything about Fresh City after loads of strange encounters. I come here more often than I should since I live in the building, and while some people who work here are lovely, the hard facts are that 1) they are way too overpriced, even for this neighbourhood; 2) THEY ASK FOR TIP when you check out your groceries; 3) the people who work at the coffee bar are actually hired to be cashiers - no training. The alcohol shop they have attached to the grocery is 'not allowed' to sell alcohol unless they sell it with food, which was news to me. The girl who worked there today was also incredibly rude and condescending, what an unbelievable attitude for NYE. This specific instance is my final straw, I'm going to fix my toxic trait and take the walk to a proper shop no matter how much I don't want to brave the cold outside lol

I visited Fresh City on Friday (January 7th) on my way home from work. I am a person who values convenience so I always use my Apple watch to pay for things in general. I grabbed some groceries and went to the cashier. The cashier wasn't particularly warm but I thought alright she must have had a long day. For some reason, tap wouldn't go through using my Apple watch. It failed twice and the cashier said "It didn't go through. Tap again". Not "can you please tap again?" but a commanding "tap again" and holding on to my groceries like I would steal them if Apple Pay didn't work. It is in my most sincere recommendation to switch out the management at this store as the staff has been perceived time and time again as unprofessional and unfriendly. Management also has the mind boggling intelligence to set the TIP option on the point of purchase at the grocery store. Big brain move. 2 stars because the store is beautiful and exquisitely decorated. Very bright and warm feeling store. It’s just too bad that service leaves so much to be desired.

This review is only in relation to the coffee - which I do not recommend. It was burnt, did not taste good, and the service was somewhat brisk. The store itself is well lit and maintained and looks to have a small variety of goods, alongside a wine selection.

Usually I love this store. It's cute and the people are friendly. Just now, I went to get my usual loaf of sourdough and I recently discovered you can ask to have it sliced. The person working at the deli counter was setting up an oyster display (with bare hands) and asked if I needed help. I asked if I could please get my bread sliced. They said sure, just let me finish this. They set up their oyster display and then went to wash their hands. I watched them literally rinse their hands with water for 10 seconds and wipe with paper towels. No soap, no scrubing down. I have a life threatening, anaphylactic allergy to shellfish, so naturally I was not comfortable after that. I told him never mind, I didn't want it sliced anymore and bought it unsliced. This is very scary and not following food safety protocols whatsoever. Totally unacceptable.

Quality of this place has gone way down. I order grocery delivery from them regularly over the last year or so and for the most part have had positive experiences. However, over the last 3-4 months I have had constant issues with my delivery items. From receiving rotten and mouldy produce to incorrect items. I relayed my issues with support on several occasions only to be given the same generic responses and their support team blaming it on the packers. Incorrect items, I get it, but rotten produce?? That is a fresh city issue and even more so a quality assurance issue, has nothing to do with packers. They only pack what is available to them. Support has told me they would pass my feedback to the management team but looks like it has never made its way. My most recent order, I received ginger that was mouldy and gray on the inside and the turmeric well past it's freshness date... I reached out to support at my disgust with the quality, only again to be given the same generic response and a credit on my items. The level of customer service used to be actually good, now it's just flat out garbage.

Update: After their response below, I reached out via email to Scott, the customer support lead. He apologized, explained that "they had new staffer who had just started who was not familiar with the process of processing refunds" (from customer support email), and arranged for a $20 gift card for me to pick up in store. 1st Post - 1 Star: Bought produce from this store for the first (and probably last) time last week. As some other reviews indicate, prices are much higher than at bigger grocery stores. This is understandable given that it’s a smaller chain that features organic products. When buying the broccoli, I assumed the brown bits were dirt that I could wash off. Turns out that it’s actually infested with bugs, which are very hard to remove. Upon doing a quick Google search, they are likely aphids and are not unheard of with organic broccoli. Still, I think it’s reasonable to not want bug-infested broccoli, especially when they were not cheap. When I returned to the store and tried to get a refund, I was told that only the manager can authorize refunds and to come back between 9-4:30 the next day. As a customer, I don’t have time to be chasing down someone during the workday. I leave it to the store and its management if they would like to follow-up on this.

How cute is this grocer. Fresh baked goods, friendly and engaged staff. I had a wonderful conversation with the cashier about tarts. Fresh fruit and carbonated beverage for a snack! There is so much product worth supporting, as the sustainability value is helping many businesses grow and develop new healthy products for a busy downtown population. Worth a look!
