i don't shop at fortinos-eastgate much anymore because i have moved from the east end to downtown back in 2007, so i do my shopping more at dundurn and occasionally at mall road.
fortinos is not cheap however you get what you pay for, and the selection of items is top notch.
i stopped in recently and not much has changed. the tenets of quality meats and produce, sparkling clean aisles, great selection of grocery items and a european ambiance continue to this day. the also have a nice hot food section along with hot and cold drinks. the store itself is modern and in excellent condition.
i personally knew staff from the past and most have them have either retired or moved on to other locations. when i do go in i find the staff overall to be polite and friendly.
true story, back in 2009 i lost my wallet in the store. i filed a police report and the station recommended me to go to fortinos since that was the last place i had my wallet with me. after backchecking with fortinos staff they had it in possession. everything was returned to me intact.
bottom line: i would recommend fortinos-eastgate to others, and would use the store again if i was in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fortinos is an excellent grocery store. Whenever I am in the area I make an effort to stop by. Their hot foods and pizzas are excellent and I wish they would expand further north. The prices are fair and it is quite large so changes are you will find what you need. Definitely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They use old brown ground beef to add weight to their ground beef packs. They wrap the fresh meat around the old meat to disguise it. Absolutely disgusting. I would expect better from a high end grocery store.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am a very loyal customer of Fortinos grocery stores, but needed to finally take the time to compliment this store location. We regularly call to order the delicious pizza. But what I am complimenting is the efficiency of the staff to answer the main phone. I am so impressed, with this busy store, that they can assist a customer so quickly...every time!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been a customer of Fortinos of over 9 years in the GTA. There are many Fortinos that are run better than this store. They do not tell the truth to the customers too often. They sell brands that are not necessarily quality brands. They hardly have frozen meals like a few years ago. It is a ploy to make you buy their premium priced goods which are not actually worth it. I know they have used the pandemic as a major excuse which is lame. You can not get saltine crackers with your soup here, that is how cheap they are. When you want to get a desert, they will act like you are in their way and not treat the customer like they matter. I honestly think people working here are depressed because that is how I feel when I come in and out. I now shop at other Fortinos or Walmart. Fortinos is not what it could be which is the big problem. I do not recommend you give this store your hard earned $!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We mostly do on line shopping (the Express) with Fortinos on Upper James. We order on line (very easy, excellent website, we are in our 70's), then pick up. Produce is excellent, vegetables fresh. They email if substitutes are necessary, if we happen not to respond they then call us. The employees placing the groceries in our car are very efficient and always friendly. A pleasant experience.
