I find produce is too expensive when it isn't on sale, especially for the quality. Herbs are definitely over priced compared to competitors. Lots of parking and conveniently located next to a Pharmacy and Beer Store.

I was going to have to go home and get my credit card but a man appeared and asked what the problem was and told the cashier to ring off my bill and he said Merry Christmas to me. I said who are you? He said the store manager. I almost cried. Merry Christmas to you Mister and to everyone at Food Basics on Cassells Street in North Bay. Thank you so much. Very appreciated.

Her tap on her phone would not work and she was about to leave her groceries to go home for her credit card. She was so down. So discouraged after a bad day. Her job is in jeopardy due to covid. It honestly has been so hard for her. All of a sudden, the manager came over and asked what the problem was. When the cashier explained, he wished her a Merry Christmas and gave her the $123 worth of groceries for free. I beyond grateful. You have no idea how much that meant.

A	Ashley Gimblett on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few weeks ago we went to food basics to pickup Gatorade and popcyles. My 5 year old daughter was very sick and ended up having to stay home for a few weeks. We stopped by to get her stuff to stay hydrates after she had a trip to the hospital for being so dehydrated. It was a very rough week. I was searching for a chocolate calender for her to countdown Christmas but everywhere seemed to be sold out so I gave up. As we were cashing out a young man working offered her a candy can witch out a smile on her face and made her so happy! As we were walking out another female Cashier asked if she could give her a chocolate Calander! And said Santa delivered it specially for her! ? ? this totally made her day and mine! We had such a long week and this brightening both our days up! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! The employees at food basics are always so kind at checkout and Its noticed!
K	Kendra Marshall on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seriously, every single time I shop here I go to check out and the employee is either chatting away or doing a task that can wait. I'm 90% sure a manager allowed this to happen on my recent experience, a little mind blowing. My experience here every time is just exhausting. I only come for my dog food and it's not even the cheapest place to buy it, just closest to home. I'll be making the extra five minute drive to Walmart from here on out.

If you can’t get there with 3 hours of opening on the start day of a sale, forget about it. Produce quality is hit or miss and variety is lacking. Something like fresh kiwi is iffy but you’ll always find 5 kinds of potatoes. Unless they’re on sale. Staff are decent if a little on the gruff side.
