I clearly mentioned in my application that I don't want a house that has cats. They took a lot of time to find a host family & I needed accommodation proof to present to the immigration officer at the airport in Canada before my trip. Then they responded to me in the last minute & told me they got me a house with cats so I had no choice but to accept the offer. A month after I moved in, the host started to become very rude & hostile with me. The host lady also lied to the agency about me & made racist comments towards my background. Despite reporting all this to the placement coordinator, she said that they cannot take any actions against the family because they believe in giving people second chances, which is good but you cannot just give someone a second chance right away especially after what I just reported. Also the coordinator kept mentioning that if I wanted another family then I should contact them & they will help me, which makes it clear that they only care about making money and not about the student's wellbeing. There are better alternatives for accommodations in Vancouver. Just check on craigslist and kijijii for bedroom space or look for people in your college who are also searching for a shared apartment or something.

We had only limited time to complete the whole process from finding a safe home in a foreign country to visa, flight, and school requirements.. I have contacted to multiple student placement agencies. But all of the agencies had only 1 single contact and they were not responsive enough to complete the procedures in timely fashion. But FCI was different to begin with. They work seriously and tough cases like mine do not stop them! FCI has perhaps 10 women with big arms to take care of every and each detail in perfection and in timely manner. I did not know anything, but they advise me and lead me on each steps. They made the tasks easier and had them work for final results. And the house they placed our son was the big prize for us. FCI proudly is the best! Thank you so much.

They are not professional and do not care about students and their families. There is no standard to become a host family, so anyone can become one to earn extra money. When I was a student, I had a terrible experience with a host family and asked First Choice for a help but they did not do anything for me, because they only believed what the host family explained and didn't even spend a minute to listen to me. My family and I really did regret using this agent.
