It's in an ideal location, in the centre of Calgary, easy to get to from every quandrant of the city! Unbelievably, being downtown, it has a Large parking lot! They have programs/ seminars for almost every age group: Babies, Children, Youth, Women, Men, Seniors. If you live anywhere near 13 Av & 4 St SW, you will do Yourself a favor to attend here, & to get involved in a group or 2, & enjoy the beauty & atmosphere of the church building & stained glass windows! There are many interesting little nooks & crannies, & surprise rooms in this historic, old church. You can get lost inside here, & wonder which passageway to get out. It's like something from the movies. There are also a few outside groups, like AA, & concerts, who rent the church facilities. You could be interested in some of these groups. Give yourself the pleasure of going to 1st Baptist Church. I'm just a person who attends many events here, & love being inside this beautiful, inspiring building! R	Ronald Arends on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't know who's writing these reviews (members I'm sure) but this church is full of dead Christians! My wife and I, who are not believers, went on Easter Sunday (!) expecting a church full of enthusiastic Christians celebrating the highest and holiest day of the year. Instead we found a church full of "older" people and bored people. The sermon was basically a Bible study with no stories or illustrations or relevance. The minister did not even read the Easter story! That's like not reading the nativity story on Christmas. And where is the resurrection power in the lives of these sleeping saints? It is no wonder this church on Easter was at best 20% full and almost all of these were seniors. I saw they had a magnificent pipe organ on which not a note was played. Is there a better day for the triumphant sounds of a pipe organ to fill a church than Easter?? There is no question the building is splendid with vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, an upper deck and wooden pews. But this does not constitute the church. Too bad the congregants are so apathetic. If this is "true" Christianity, count me out!! Ps. Not a single person approached us to share this wonderful news of the resurrection.

I	Ida May on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I attended Sunday service at this church a couple of weeks ago. Haven't been there since 2019 after moving to the south end of Calgary. Same beautiful church. Sermon was good but long. The thing that seemed drastically different was the music which I'm sure can be chalked up to the covid restrictions. I remember this church having a wonderful trio of singers and a great choir! Didn't recognize the gal who sang and played the piano. She did an okay job but seemed to be struggling with singing in tune. Hopefully they will bring back that trio and the choir when government allows.
