this firm wasted my partners time and money and allowed the executor to bankrupt the estate without consequence , well there was consequence there's a 30000$ dollar bill and nothing to show for it highly not recommended if you're in an estate battle and are interested in not getting robbed 6 ways from Sunday they won't even give up a copy of the file I hope that this message finds anyone in an estate battle the lawyer was a partner ! he knew what he was doing and obviously couldn't be bothered he one time included a document from another estate in a bundle that was requested

Barry McGuire was the lawyer for the sellers in my first real estate transaction where I represented the buyer. As a new agent, I was stressing about whether the deal would close smoothly and on time, or if there was anything further required of me. I was impressed with Barry's communication and including me in the dialogue as the process progressed. Thanks Barry! I look forward to working with Field Law again!

I rarely provide ratings for companies, but must make an exception for Field Law. In February we were referred to one of the partners in the Edmonton office to take care of a complex document. We specifically asked the partner whether he had experience with these contracts and he emphatically stated he has completed many. We were impressed when he asked for other documentation about our businesses so that he could offer extra services free of charge. He also committed to complete the document (verbally) for a very reasonable fee. We should have had red flags all over the place because so much business was agreed to verbally (aka we don't have a paper trail that can definitively prove what was promised). We were on a tight timeline. Days and weeks turned into months and whenever we asked for an update we were told it was happening and not to worry, but when we received initial drafts it was as if nothing was done. We were reassured that it is all part of the process. Long story short, instead of these documents being finished in 6 weeks for around $6,000. At the end of 4 months we had documents that were next to useless as the partner admitted he hadn't actually ever done this type of document before and had asked for help from another partner. We were also informed our bill was currently sitting at over $20,000... for a document that was legitimately next to useless in its current form. We ended up going to another firm and had everything completed quickly for around... yes, $6,000 without any pain. The partner we had been working with at Field Law stated he would sue us if we didn't pay him the $20,000 we owed for services rendered even after we tried to negotiate stating that we didn't have a document that could be used for anything (sorry... maybe it could be very rough toilet paper). Just yesterday I was informed by the same office (I had hoped I was done with them) that they had my corporate books and wanted to begin charging us for more of their services. I discovered that they had weaselled their way into having my accounting firm send these books over to take over rather than simply to look them over. In other words I was now in a position where I may have to pay an incompetent and dishonest lawyer to manage books I didn't even know they had in the first place. I contacted my accounting firm and they confirmed this has happened to other client in the past (lawyer says he will look at the books for free, ends up taking them from the accounting firm with some very tricky worded emails and communication, then takes over the client from the accounting firm). I apologize for the long-winded review. I wanted to paint a picture that was accurate to what I have experienced and am disgusted that, because a lawyer can cover tracks and get around the law with communication in specific ways, there may be no accountability for these actions. Hopefully this may save a few people from the dangers of working with such a disreputable firm (again, this lawyer is a partner in the firm).

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Barry McGuire when purchasing my first home. Due to the current state of mortgages, we were unable to provide him with the normal time frame for settling our mortgage and reviewing the documentation. Barry and his team however worked hard and went above and beyond to review our purchase and work with us and get everything done in as timely manner as possible. On a personal note, I found Barry had a very kind and relaxing manner. He seemed very chill when we spoke to him, and it helped me to relax during what would have otherwise been a very stressful situation. I would definitely recommend Barry and his team to anyone else who is looking for a good lawyer.

Don't use field law to close your house with Mattamy, they want to take every penny you have for Mattamy. I thought I was going to save money by using them with the same builder, they support the builder than supporting you, run from them and look for a better lawyer that has your interest.

Barry did a good job for me when I was out of town on the east coast. He managed to do everything remotely using Zoom. He was very fast in responding to emails and phone calls even on weekends and did a great job.

I live in British Columbia, and needed legal advice in Alberta on a land deal, Barry helped me more than I could have expected, I had found his name and firm on line, and reached out with an email. After many emails and telephone calls, the matter finally got resolved, Barry will be my lawyer in the future if I ever need one again.. Thank you once again Barry, Sincerely Darrell Brown

When Barry at Field Law was recommended to us by a couple of different realtors, we knew that he was the right person to help us with the planned closing and possession of our investment property. Even before we engaged him in the closing, he provided a high-level review of the agreement to purchase. A month before closing we encountered several issues where his experience in real estate law was invaluable to us: he guided us through delays with our builder, and negotiated holdbacks for unfinished seasonal work. He is backed by a great team of people, like Laurie, whose insights on the closing process allayed our concerns about the delays, as well as ensured that our closing went smoothly. It was a pleasure working with Barry and his team.
