β β β β β Went last year to the conference in Victoria, we had an absolutely great time! We were only engaged then, still was fantastic and we walked away after the weekend feeling refreshed and ready for more adventures :) Going back this year!

β β β β β So my husband and I attended our first Family Life Canada Weekend event at Blue Mountain in Ontario on November 24 2017. This conference is for a specific learning style and personality type. If you like one way didactic learning in a crowded room this is for you. Despite drawing from the diversity of GTA for those attending the didactic leaders were all Caucasian. In a room of 200-300 there was little room for interactive connection with other participants which would have been much more meaningful for me. The first night one of the speakers started by schilling her own book and also her daughter's book and her daughter's youTube. That seemed odd and self serving. The hotel-one towel was provided for the two of us-it took 3 calls to get more towels from the front desk, the power was out all of the next morning and we were told by the hotel we would not be able to cancel the 2nd night because of company policy. We decided to go home on the second day as this was a stressful event and the conference was not suited to our learning style. We were hoping for relational and interactive sessions which did not happen. It also shocked me the lack of diversity in the leadership (It sends a message) and I find that disappointing for a Christian organization running an event so close to Toronto-the most diverse city in the World. We do not recommend it and will not attend again..

β β β β β We attended 2 or 3 years ago at a rocky point in our marriage. I appreciate the effort put into the seminar, and the fact that the emphasis is on communication with and getting to know your spouse. The exercises have a way of drawing out people who don't, won't or aren't comfortable expressing what they enjoy or are looking for (whatever their reasoning), and led to some revelations for both my wife and I. You'd be surprised how much, no matter how long you've been married, you don't know about your spouse. I still refer back to a couple of the tactics taught in the course, and share them with others. Well done.
