Omg the ppl that work here are very rude and racist they follow you around the store assuming your a thief. I then engaged in a heated verbal argument coming the employee of fabric land more like racist land to me, she told me that I had to leave and they dont serve my kind there. I've filled a lawsuit against these European squatters!

Copy paste from Facebook On January 26th 2021, an incident occurred at North Battleford Fabricland. Nimosom Simon Sapp, accompanied by two of his sons, went in to purchase broad cloth for ceremonial purposes. He had given an employee named Lois instructions on cutting the cloth for him, 7 meters each of 4 different colours. Lois suggested other fabric, not fully understanding that specific types and colours are needed for ceremony, and her suggestions were promptly rejected (Cree elders are very frank when speaking English). She began to treat mushom in a demeaning manner, at this point, repeating the instruction "seven metres?" each time she cut, but in a condescending and sarcastic tone - as though mosom didn't know what he wanted. Each time she asked, mosom patiently responded with "yes". At this point, while Lois was visibly annoyed for no apparent reason, Elder Simon lifted his hand and adjusted his face mask. This action upset Lois, and she began to berate him, demanding that he keep his mask on or be evicted from the store. When my 89 year old grandfather finally had enough of being yelled at and "warned", he told her simply "don't talk to us like that" before he walked away from her and the situation, to sit down on a bench near the front entrance of the store. This was well over the 6 feet social distancing requirement, yet she FOLLOWED him to the bench and CONTINUED to berate him. She yelled at my grandfather: "if you remove that mask, you can leave the store" over and over again, until he finally felt humiliated and belittled enough to get up and leave the store. With his cane. In freezing SK weather. He knows when he is being discriminated against and treated unfairly, and this incident left him feeling upset - I doubt he will ever want to set foot in North Battleford Fabricand, ever again. Indigenous residents of North Battleford and the surrounding First Nations spend a lot of money at this Fabricland, including Simon's wife and my grandmother, Theresa Sapp, who shops there so much that they know her on a first name basis. In fact, Simon spent over $150 in Fabricland that day, not including the purchases made by my uncles. I believe that he had a right to peacefully exist in the warmth of the store while socially distancing more than six feet from an unnecessarily distraught Lois, who I think was just looking for a reason to treat him that way. The family has requested an apology from her, which was supposed to be handed in yesterday, but we haven’t received anything yet. After some phone calls to the business regarding solutions and outcomes, the owner/manager has said she will no longer be taking calls regarding this matter. She has, however, expressed her apologies via letter and informed us that Lois received a 3 day suspension from work. Also included in the letter is an offer of employment to people of Indigenous descent. Yup, they are hiring, and will HOPEFULLY give preference to Indigenous applicants to ensure they have a diverse staff that is culturally aware of ceremonial protocols and who knows how to treat Indigenous elders with the respect that they deserve. Or, at the very least, some basic human decency. Don’t spend your money there. If you have to, let them know how you feel about their treatment of elders. Or take it a step further and APPLY TO WORK there, so you can educate Lois to prevent anything like this from happening to another undeserving elder.

Hey Fabricland! DO BETTER. This culturally insensitive employee should be fired and this family should be gifted with as much fabric as they need. Your store should be so grateful and honored to even operate and profit on the traditional lands of Indigenous peoples, let alone provide sacred fabrics to local First Nations communities. Educate yourselves, your staff and incorporate Indigenous cultural sensitivity training into your corporate business model. Create a welcome and SAFE space for Indigenous peoples, who now you're aware, shop at your store.

Was in the store for at least 20 mins before I could even find someone to help me. There are many options for fabrics and other supplies but most things are quite pricey, to get the sales you are required to buy a membership card that lasts a year. Many of the items, besides fabric, you can get at other places easier and cheaper. Will return for fabrics but won't be searching for other things there.

Customer service was great. They offer a membership and get all discounts all year long. Which make their prices much more easier to take. But with discounts like bogo or 50% 65% off can't really complain and the selection is VAST....from fabric and sewing notions to embroidery, stitchwork, crochet or knitting, quilting and yarn go check em out they have it all. Staff will help you find anything you need and give you some friendly advice. As well they have a week stocked Bargain rack filled with lots of beautiful fabric and deals on the regular. Love fabricland and will be getting a membership again.

Me and my wife went in there the other day. It was close to closing time and we were hesitant to go because an older lady that worked there was very unfriendly and unhelpful. We went in anyway, and later discovered that she was terminated. My wife was helped by two very friendly ladies. They were very helpful and a third young girl working there also seemed very friendly. I think they realized that this one former employee was really hurting business. I’m glad they were able to rectify it. I highly recommend going there again as they have definitely improved a lot!

I'm not much of a seamstress, but the times I have attempted projects I find what I need and have gotten friendly helpful advice! I even brought my own sewing machine in once and they helped me with tips on filling the bobbin... my nemesis, ha! I feel fortunate that we have such a nice store in a community our size.
