Many hiking trails nearby (including coliseum mountain) and saw a few groups of deer steps away from the cottages too! Would definitely recommend staying here, we plan to again in the near future!

The people at Expanse could teach a masterclass at hospitality. I am already planning a return. Whether you’re in the area for a weekend of hiking, exploration, or just to get off the computer and unplug Expanse cabins is a TOP choice.

The owners, Jason & Jennifer do an incredible job and make you feel so welcome. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and supplied with everything we could need for a get away. It was very relaxing and the area is superb if you just want to sit and veg, get in some great fishing or take in the incredibly beautiful sites of the area. We highly recommend it. Go! Enjoy !!

We stayed in the Kutnai, which is the smallest of the bunch, and while it was snug -- especially in the kitchen -- it was entirely quiet and comfortable, and we rather enjoyed our stay. The proprietors have excellent COVID protocols, with contactless check-in and -out, and the cottage was meticulously clean and well-organized when we arrived. The only criticism that I can offer is that the bedroom blind is a little small for the window, and doesn't do a great job of blocking the light from the little streetlamp just outside. It didn't impact our sleep much, but it was a surprise to us on the first night. I would happily return!

My husband James and I check in late and check out early, only need to leave the key. The hosts are very thoughtful and leave all kinds of stuff for us. Basically you only need to bring in food and cloth to leave there. They provide shampoo, bedding, salt, cooking stuff, coffee, etc. Before we went there, we were worried about the cleaning due to Covid. We actually brought a lot of thing but never use. They are super organized and we were so impressed by how much small stuff like ingredients they provide. Also the lovely travel guide booklet. Room is warm enough. 2 km drive from Hwy 11 and the road is full of snow. 30 mins drive to see Ice Bubble view point in Abraham Lake. Highly recommended. I was told by another guest that they run tours to ice bubble lake but we went on our own. #ExpanseCottage

They thought of everything that you may need and had it there , from spices to dishes and even toiletries . Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway or just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle . My only complaint is that we had to leave.

Check in was easy - pulled into the cabin area, was unsure of which was ours and where to park, got a shout from across the lot from the host checking to see if I was looking for "The Rock", and he told me where to go. That is as much personal interaction as we had. Check in was unpack and there you are. Check out was leave the key on the table and there you go! We way over packed. Brought items we thought we might need (they all stayed in the truck). Every thing you need is in the cabin. Kitchen has every item you could want, brilliant guide to the local area with what to do, see, where to go etc. If you need a crock-pot (slow cooker) there is one available.... and the list goes on. The interior was well thought out, wood fire was amazing. Bed was very comfortable. The cabins are close but are still private. Tired from a days hiking we sat out and enjoyed the quite and the amazing sky at night. We would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back again.
