As the other reviews attest, Elinor is warm, compassionate and understanding - definitely a nice person. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying her for her sparkling personality, but rather for her help in guiding process re getting me named as Administrator of my father's estate. And in that regard, I can't possibly give her more than a one star rating. Indeed, that may be generous. Why? Well, the legal advice she gave me was often incorrect, and changed from conversation to conversation; it was quite clear that she was learning the legal requirements on the go - on various occasions she had to check with other lawyers to make sure she had the legal issues correct; the whole process ended up taking two or three times longer than required (months and months, instead of weeks); and in the end, the court filings were riddled with errors: Old versions of the forms were used, the middle page was missing from one of the documents, her signature was missing from another document, two different documents were both named 'Exhibit A'....it was shoddy, shoddy work. The court clerk literally had me redoing the forms myself, adding schedules and addendums at the courthouse, and ended up serving as my signing agent because Elinor's signatures couldn't be used (thank god the court clerk was so nice and helpful!). If she responds to this, Elinor is likely to claim that I too was responsible for many of the delays, and that she wasn't always working with complete information. She wouldn't be entirely wrong here: I definitely went on/off re the amount of attention I could allocate to the tasks, and I wasn't always aware of exactly what information Elinor required each step of the way. But that's why I was the client, and she was the lawyer: because I do not know the whole process and she [ostensibly] does. Unfortunately in this case *neither of us* had a good handle on the process, which had us spinning our wheels more often than not. I'm sure Elinor is a wonderful person. And to her credit, she didn't charge me for much of the time that she spent on the file. But I still couldn't with good conscience recommend her to others. Not if your situation is remotely complicated, or if you're not entirely sure of how to go about process on your own.
