El Navaro Apartments

This building has an elevator with a door+doorknob! THAT'S SO COOL.

I've lived in this building for over 7 years and have loved calling it my home. The location is as good as it gets in the West End (minutes from both English Bay and Stanley Park). The building manager, Chad, is a great guy and does a fantastic job taking care of the building. It's no surprise why this building never has vacancy!

I lived in this building for 7 years in the mid 2000's. Don was the manager at the time, then Rick, then Chad. Don was the nicest by far. Although Rick was nice, I did hear stories about him from other tenants. For example, one lady complained about moths in her closet, and then he proceeded to charge her the costs for extermination. He said he could forget about it if she bought him a mickey of whiskey. I could go on with stories, but I'll spare you. He was a womanizer. I had a neighbor in the same building who gave notice to vacate as she had bought a condo. She had lived in El Navaro for almost 7 years as well. Chad wanted to charge her thousands of dollars for "damages" to the appliances, simply because she smoked a couple times in her apartment. I eventually gave my own notice to move on after 7 years. And Chad did the final walk-through of the apartment. He wanted to charge me for cleaning of the blinds, which were already as clean as when I moved in. Chad immediately threatened "well, you signed the papers didn't you?" I didn't know what he was talking about. He said "Do you have a copy of your lease?" And I said "No." That was over 7 years ago. And everything was put away into boxes for my move. And he insisted that I signed papers that allowed him to charge for cleaning of the blinds. So he dug out a copy of the lease. And there WAS NO SIGNATURE. Watch this guy. He, and the property company he works for are GREEDY CROOKS. They don't care about you AT ALL no matter how long you've stayed there. It unfortunately left a really bad taste in my mouth, and I regret they got my rent money for so long.
