★ ★ ★ ★ ★ EFRS assisted in saving my life after a near death experience due to internal bleeding that was missed during surgery the day prior. I was at home, the surgeon dismissed my daughter's concerns and said the amount of bleeding and and clots was "normal" and that I was fine. My daughter called 911 when I told her that I couldn't hear, or see, and that I was showing signs of hypovolemic shock. An ambulance and Edmonton Fire Rescue were dispatched, and had to provide extensive life support measures to stabilize me enough to transport via ambulance to the nearest hospital. EFRS had to carry me down several flights of stairs, as the elevator was out of service, in a transfer sheet, as a stretcher was out of the question. Had EFRS not attended, when they did, I would not be here today. The members were professional and extremely kind and helped put my 4 year old granddaughter at ease, as she watched them work on me. She was so thankful that they helped her "Gram" that she wants to be a "girl EFR" when she grows up.
