Bruce is an incredible teacher. He is well versed in his body of work and ensures you walk away something you can action. I'm really excited to use this knowledge on my garden boxes this summer :)

I have done a few one day courses before at other places While I came away with more ability, I knew I did not have enough. I am of the era of women did not take shop in high school. I am enrolled in he DIY level one course and it is fantastic. Bruce is a former shop teacher and he has all of the theory and practice of teaching adults. Great handouts. Step by step. Explaining how to select wood and why different screws are used. We covered an incredible amount in lesson one and I am really looking forward to lesson 2. My only concern in reviewing is letting everyone else know how great this is and creating wait lists for the courses. But I must not be selfish...

Bruce is awesome! He is extremely patient, passionate and encouraging. This is my first time in a woodworking space and as intimidating as it was initially, Bruce made the whole process easy to understand and provided a lot of guidance. I took the Level 1 (6 week course) and I can’t wait to sign up for level 2! Definitely recommend Edge City Woodworking School! Ask for Bruce :)

Currently in the middle of doing the 6-week Level 1 course and been super happy with it so far. Very well stocked workshop. Bruce is a very patient teacher and gets the balance right in terms of instruction vs autonomy. He encourages you to use the tools on your own as you need them, but only once you're comfortable with using the tools safely while supervised. Not sure how other woodworking courses are, but here you're encouraged to pick your own project to build. I chose to make a camping table even though the website suggested a bench, Bruce was more than happy to accommodate!

Had a wonderful 6 weeks in the Level 1 course, building a box with sliding lid as well as a stool. Bruce is great to work with and an excellent instructor. I would highly recommend for those interested in learning some basics of woodworking and getting good hands on skills. It’s also a place for those who have more advanced projects in mind.

I have a great experience learning from Bruce. I am currently taking the 5 half day morning class. Bruce is really knowledgeable and specially cautious on the safety for students. I feel very comfortable even working on machines that I am not familiar with Bruce’s guidance. Even it’s a short 5 days class, it’s covering more material than I expected, from understanding and choosing the wood, machine woodworking , hand woodworking , making joint, glueing, finishing. The workshop is always clean and organized when I go to the class. I recommend taking the class if you really want to learn woodworking !

Strong recommend! Have completed Level 1 and plan to sign up for Level 2. Having had some past experience in a home shop, muddling along with frankly not great machines, this program was a gift. As others have said Bruce is a very patient teacher and coach, extremely clear and thorough, and explains the reasoning behind rules and principals. I also appreciate his dry sense of humour.

I completed the level 1 week long class and had a great time learning from Bruce and others at the shop! Bruce is an amazing teacher. He was so patient in teaching me the basics of woodworking and safe operation of power tools and machines. I was really amazed at how the curriculum is set and could not believe I was able to finish a box AND an entryway bench in 5 days! I was initially scared of operating power tools, but Bruce's guidance and teaching made it feel very safe. I feel much more comfortable around tools now knowing that I have some foundational knowledge. The week long course allowed me to immerse myself into woodworking- it was an incredible experience. I'm looking forward to signing up for more courses at Edge City!
