East Lake Shores

WARNING! I'm not the type to complain easily, but I have a limit. This is the third summer we have been to SummerVillage (now East Lake Shores). This year, the cleaning was not done when we arrived. Dirty pots, sticky floor and dirty water in the sink at our arrival. On day 3, we had an ants infestation (the whole colony) in the kitchen. Their solutions : a new cleaning with ants traps... for a colony... Seriously. Of course, one hour later, the ants were back. We went to the administration office to help us with the situation. They never call us back. We lost the groceries (cereals, snacks, croissant, bread, etc) that we had bought because the ants had time to find them on the counter during the night. We had to come up with a plan B in the middle of our vacation and leave Sandbanks because of the ant invasion. Preparing a vacation is already a mental load with two kids (3 and 5 years old), doing it in one afternoon when everything is booked everywhere, let me assure you that it is far from pleasant. We received an email (no phone call) one week later. They offered 10% refund..... or 3 free days for another time... The 10% would only cover the food we lost! The worst part is that they say they are not responsible... even though the contract was signed with them.To quote their own words "Unfortunately, as we are operating exclusively as a booking agent for ELS, and it is they that provide and are responsible for the services related to this issue, there is little we can do in situations such as these." I would think it would be a real shame if another family went through the same situation with the same management style. I warned them that I would share my experience on Google if I didn't hear back from them. I am still waiting for that feedback three weeks later. Customer service is clearly not their priority. I'm just glad I paid with Visa. They will be able to take care of the file for my refund considering they refuse to communicate with us.

I just booked at East Lake shores so excited for my first visit. Audrey was wonderful to deal with !!

We stayed here for a week in the summer for a family getaway and we were blown away. The cottage we stayed at was the perfect mix of cozy and modern. The dishwasher and full sized washer and dryer were a much welcomed surprise as we were travelling with a toddler. Their huge playground and gated pool really makes their facilities stand out. My husband really enjoyed kayaking in the lake.

Cottage was NOT CLEAN. No propane in the bbq tank, ceiling fans had at least half an inch of black dirty dust that flew around once you turned them on. Cooking utensils were filthy. Had to wash everything before we could use anything. Wish we were told BEFORE WE PAID that only one hour a day allowed in the pool a s you have to line up every morning to sign up for that. No net up at the tennis court. And the restaurant is closed permanently. None of the above is mentioned on the website. Deck was full of wasp nests and windows were covered in spiders. We saw the cottage cleaning staff come to the cottage next door and it was two approx 13 year old kids. So bless them but now I know why the cottage was filthy!!!!! Not a nice way to start a vacation after months and months of covid lockdown.... with 2 hours of cleaning!!!!!!! We are an easy going family but we paid a fair amount to have this much needed vacation. We will NOT be back.

Great vacation cottages with many resort amenities. A great location for young families to relax. The cottages are all separate homes, not trailers. Very well maintained and situated around pocket parks. Get ready tor a evening bin fire.

We had a fun 3 night stay at this resort but I think it was our company who made it a great week. At first glance, our cottage was nice but we quickly learned that it was not well stocked (missing basic things like dish soap, cleaning supplies, cutting boards, other utensils), our bed was horrible (so loud and squeaky that anytime one of us moved in the night, it woke the other up) and the floors were quite dirty with no option to clean as the cottage only had a vacuum that wasn’t working well. I would also like to echo the comment below about the bbq being extremely dirty (ours was infested with earwigs) and no way to clean it. The communication from resort staff was poor. Multiple emails and phone calls went ignored leading up to our arrival. We got an email saying check-in was from 4-6pm but upon arrival they said the office closes at 5pm, as an example. I never saw an employee with a mask handy. The housekeeping staff were going into cottages without masks to “clean”. Surely the place cannot be disinfected properly when staff are breathing on surfaces as they wipe them. We used the park, pool, basketball courts and shuffle board areas. These were fun and in good condition. There is lots to do at the resort if you don’t have plans to leave. This resort has a lot of potential but for now I would say it is not worth the price they are charging, especially when requiring a 3 night minimum stay all season.

First off it was so confusing as to who we were renting from was it Sandbanks Summer Village or East Lake Shores? Upon check in we were only provided with key and parking pass, and no other instructions. Cleanliness of cottage was extremely poor, We had dirty dishes in the dishwasher and dirty clothes / towels in the washing machine. Plates, silverware, glasses, and cookware in kitchen were dirty and we had to clean everything prior to using. Kitchen faucet was extremely loose to the point that it felt like it would pop right off. Air Conditioner unit was clogged with dirt. Ceiling fan in main bedroom stopped working the last night. Mattress in main bedroom was old and saggy. BBQ was dirty and rusty and no way to clean. Not sure what housekeeping did prior to check in but it did not seem like they did anything nor was anyone checking on their work. We had no heads up on the process to book the pool, had to line up like concert goers at 8am to get a 1 hour spot which was not guaranteed. One night we showed up at 7pm for our reserved time and pool was closed, no sign indicating why it was closed. Next day we were told that they were closing at 6pm because they had no staff, drove by at 7pm and pool was still open. All staff with exception to front office were teenagers, lifeguards did not pay attention to people in pool as they were too busy talking to friends or guests they knew. For price we paid expected a lot more attention to detail ad better service, will not be coming back.

Truly a 5 star cottaging experience. Cant say enough great things about this resort community. Fantastic amenities, super family friendly, and located in the the heart of PEC, minutes away from Sandbanks. Each cottage is privately owned and unique so take your time when booking to look through the listing to find the best fit for your trip. Nothing beats the sunset over East Lake. Cannot wait for it to open again this summer. Thank you to the staff at East Lake Shores!
