About Duck Mountain Ski Area
Duck Mountain’s long history goes back to Kamsack— the Crocus Hill and the Bill’s Hill in partnership with the Happy Valley Ski Club in the 1950s. It was not the same back then, but people’s love and passion for skiing have grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years.
In the 1960s, skiing moved to Kendal Hill, east of Kamsack and then expanded to the Fire Tower Hill in Duck Mountain Provincial Park. By this time, the audience was growing, and a larger hill was needed to cater to the growing demands of Canadians.
So potential hills were located in the south end of Duck Mountain Provincial Park. Committed efforts by the local government and citizens of the neighborhood resulted in setting up our current location.
We proudly remember it as the beginning of the Duck Mountain Ski Area, where skiing first occurred around the 1978-1979 winter season.
