9am called about using expired medication for a stye, or if to receive a new one if it was unsafe. Was told I would get called back. After an hour I called again and was told nothing could be done for me. I could have went to see a doctor in that time, which was my only free hour before work, but I waited expecting help (as both a doctor's appointment and possible prescription renewal during the first call).

Have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Pegado himself as well as Coral Crawford and everyone else in the back doing the actual ophthalmological work. Not only are they great at what they do, but they are also naturally amazing at working with kids and there are always smiles and laughs during my sons tests. The big problem here is the reception, and in reading other reviews on here and RatemyMD it is clearly an issue that needs to be addressed. You can have all the talented doctors in the world, but receptionists are an incredibly vital first point of contact, and if you have rude and incompetent individuals at the helm it kind of puts a damper on the whole situation. I have tried on many different occasions to get through to them on the phone for basic things like appointment booking, confirmations and general inquiries and they literally do not answer their phones. Their voicemail says to try an email instead, and they don't respond to those either. Appointment reminder calls or texts? Nope. I’ve then sat in their reception area and witnessed first-hand as they are seemingly not doing anything but blankly staring at their monitor and smartphone and responding coldly to anyone who dare approach the desk. I would love to know how the professionals in this office seemingly just ignore the fact that they have receptionists who treat their patients poorly and don’t take on the most basic of receptionist duties like answering a telephone...

I give Pegado five stars. His desk staff gets only two though. They seemed to lack training? Not very good social skills, as well as numerous mistakes made and red flags just in the short period I interacted with them. Surprising for such a good doctor. Dr Pegado is just great though. Which is the important thing after all. Very competent and bright, with a friendly and warm personality which is so often lacking in the ophthalmologists and surgeons I’ve dealt with.

Horrible experiences with this doctor. He promised to correct my vision to 100% which he "guaranteed". I had nothing but problems following cataract surgery with constant eye pain and visual problems that lasted for years afterward. Dr. Pegado became dismissive, rude and suggested the problem was "in my head". I finally found a compassionate doctor who diagnosed the problem and treated me for several years until my vision was restored.

I give Dr Pegado 5 stars but whoever does the scheduling 1 star. Every appt is at least an hour wait... Today was an hour and half wait for my 13 mo old. Ridiculous! I understand if this would happen once or twice but as I said every single appointment... You're either scheduling too many appointments or you're not leaving enough time but there should be some kind of correction as people should not have to wait with their young children for this long for an appointment when we show up on time.

Really terrible appointment scheduling. Have already been waiting 45 minutes and haven’t even seen the doctor yet. My son could have attended school this morning but no, I chose to be on time for this appointment. Horrendous service. Edit: Dr. was great and apologized for the wait. They are trying to re-vamp their scheduling for obvious reasons. However, I didn’t appreciate the passive aggressive comment β€œThank you for your review” from the receptionist on my way out of the office. Completely unprofessional.

5 stars for Dr. Pegado. 0 stars for front desk staff. Rude, unprofessional, with sassy additudes are not the kind of people you want being the face to your company let alone greeting people.

What I find seriously offensive is that the same review is written over and over -- for at least three years. Dr Pegado is great but the wait times are unacceptable and the front desk staff are unhelpful, unprofessional and rude. I had this experience exactly. It seems ( according to the young Lady behind the reception desk) that patients are told appointments can be up to 1.5 hours.... What you aren't told is that 80 of those minutes will be waiting in the reception area. This while most Doctors offices are trying to limit the number of people sitting in their reception areas but not this place!!! Most professionals charged with working with the public try hard to listen to feedback and make changes to operations to ensure the least stressful experience (I won't talk about Client satisfaction) Not this place. Over and over it seems to be completely acceptable to to schedule patients with not enough time in between. There were babies screaming and seniors trying to be patient. Oh and don't try to call their office to check on status of wait times or the person you are waiting on. They don't answer their phones. The final insult for me was the receptionist telling me it's okay to leave my charge to walk home.... (I had another appointment to get to) The person I was waiting on has Parkinson's (very visible) and dementia. Her other solution was to cancel the appointment! WOW!!
