DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL!!! The administration simply loves bullying the students! We have had NUMEROUS complaints from the kids about being bullied and intimidated by the staff and administration! Guilty by association seems the be the way they do things. Once had a teacher had the nerve to comment that one of my boys was rude to her "BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN"!!! They follow an extremely liberal curriculum, and if the kids even challenge a teacher, they get sent home. I am 100% fed up with the kids being bullied and singled out, especially by the administration!!

Teachers don’t know how to teach, the EA’s pick on students for no reason, they don’t prepare you for high school in any way, and it was the worst school experience I’ve ever had. DO NOT send your kids here, they will fail high school and not know how to do anything. P.S. don’t trust mrs. marshan, she will send you to the office for next to nothing, she doesn’t know how to help the kids she is supposed to, and she will try her hardest to make you hate her and the school.

I’ve had a child go through jr high here and one currently in elementary (the youngest being special needs). Both have been hugely successful. Amazing atmosphere that encourages learning in different formats that adapts to all learning types. The staff are warm, welcoming and only want the best for all the students. We couldn’t be happier!

Great School with a Project-based Learning Environment My sons have attended WLC since grade 5 and are currently in grade 7. The teachers work together in all grades to ensure the classes are getting similar experiences. Most of the subjects are combined into several areas at once so that a project might look like a real-world scenario with aspects such as math, science and language arts all put together at the same time. In the end, students are working collaboratively much like they will do once they are done school. There is no real homework, which can be a bit of a shock for parents, but that doesn't mean there aren't extra assignments like reading(my sons have been challenged to read 40 books throughout the year, for example). The school is new, administration is sticking to their beliefs regarding marking and report cards(there are no percentages for anything, but a report card that describe if your child is meeting the curriculum). I have found the teachers are open and will discuss what is going on quite freely. Finally, the school is just starting to find its' way as this is the first year the school is going to grade 9. In speaking with staff, they are working with the local high schools as well to ensure a good transition from grade 9 to grade 10. All I can say is if you are unsure, to make sure you try to speak with staff from WLC before making a decision.

This school has its flaws but so does every other school it's a good school. if you want to get somewhere in life go to this place . Instead of filling your kids with headaches it teaches them to think out of the box and have an open mind. Although it was difficult, going into highschool. I had relearn how study and focus on the task at hand. They need to improve the junior high section. I walked into highschool having forgot how to properly deal with hard situations and decisions. This lead to the loss of friends and a complete train wreck for the entirety of grade 10. However it does not mean I dislike the school. I did not appreciate being a lab rat for the district. It was fun but lead to negative consequences.

I go to this school currently, I have been here for grade 5, 6, 7 and now 8. I love this school and I think that it is getting unnecessary hate. People need to understand that this is a project based school, we do things differently. The way we learn we are actually learning, not just memorizing. We understand what we are learning and we do tests differently than other schools. We do real world work everyday and we still learn the curriculum.

This place is awesome because they have a different type of teaching. You only get homework if you don’t complete something and they don’t call tests, tests because the don’t want too stress us. People say it’s trash and get me out of here, you may as well say that too every school because every school is the same. There all schools and I’ve been here from grade 1 and I’m in grade 5. It’s great here, the teachers are kind, caring and there only strict if you treat them like there a toy. You should go here because it’s from kindergarten to grade 9 so you could stay there for basically all your school years. They have buses that go everywhere around South Ridge and there’s a bus that goes to Desert Blume. So there’s no excuse to not come here and even if you have to move from that school, it’s ok. You just have to do homework for the rest of your life. Hopefully you come here too!

You read on most school websites about "inclusiveness", "culture of wellness", "zero tolerance for bullying", etc. It all sounds great on text. But when your child is eventually on the receiving end, maybe a bad classroom for an entire year, with repeated bad experiences, dealing with a bully, nothing meaningful is done. This school is the same as the rest I've experienced. It's no better or worse. It's mostly talk and little action. As far as social media, which is another concern. The school has accounts for every platform. The problem is, when conveying bus delays, lunch changes, or other important announcements about your children, they may only post it on one of them instead of all of them, which causes some people to miss them. There are some great teachers and staff here, my kids have made some good friends here, but there's room for improvement. This year was a little disappointing.
