I Was Discharged With A Failed Surgery... No Documentation Was Provided Dictating That My Surgery Had Failed.. I Was Released Under The Pretense That I Was Well... Went Into ER To Find Out The 5mm Stone Was Still There... As A Result, My Job Was Position Is In Jeopardy And I Might Lose My Home, Due To Lost Wages... This Experience Combined With The Solution Of Waiting Till March For Surgery (Which Is Over A Month Away) Has Not Only Petrified ME Of Hospitals But Completely Destroyed My Faith And Trust In AHS... 10/10 Will Not Be Letting Dr. Hyndman Even Attempt To Make This Better... 0/10 Recommendation

Dr Hyndman was very professional and showed a sincere interest in my recovery with kidney stones. His demeanour in treating me made me feel very comfortable along with his nursing staff and I was very appreciative .

Dr. Hyneman was the urologist on call when my husband was having some complications from BCG treatment for bladder cancer. Here’s how the conversation went: “Hello you called urology” “I’m calling because my husband is a bladder cancer patient of Dr. Webber’s, his last treatment was -“ “Tell me why you’re calling at 3am.” “Because he’s writhing in pain “ “Bring him to emergency” “Even with CoVid-19 going on? That’s conflicting information.” “Well if he’s in that much pain go”. Yeah- so unprofessional. He was clearly upset he’d gotten woken up. I guess he skipped the days in university that covered bedside manor. He’s not fit to be a practicing physician and I am very grateful he isn’t my husbands primary urologist because I would have him fired.

I was seeing Dr. Hyndman for kidney cancer. He was inaccessible, uncommunicative and responded in an unreasonably long time. His assistant, Heather, is unempathetic, impolite, and incompetent. Heather prevented me from reaching the Dr. and she provided incorrect information that fueled my anxiety and left me worried that my cancer might spread by the time surgery becomes available. The information she provided contradicted the timeline Dr. Hyndman originally gave (4-6 week wait time), and I had no way of validating which information is correct. Heather once gave a timeline of 3-6 months for surgery, while on another time she gave 2-3 months. Heather also messed up scheduling for a long awaited follow up appointment to discuss the pathology report (a conversation that took 5 minutes with another urologist I eventually saw). I got fed up with their apathy and traveled to the US for faster and better treatment. I was told Dr. Hyndman will get back to me once he gets the pathology report. The report was released on March 24th, and he got back to me on April 8th. He called me at a time different from what his assistant had scheduled and I wasn’t available to pick up. I tried calling him back afterward but Heather prevented me from reaching him and was defensive and focused on trivial details that lead nowhere (I said you said kind of deal). She tried to impel me to just sign consent to surgery without providing sufficient information or follow up on the pathology report. It wasn’t till I lost my temper that she passed the Dr. a note to call me again, and he did on the same day to refer me to another urologist for faster treatment. The silver lining is that that new urologist would have been able to fulfill Hyndman’s original timeline of ~6 weeks! Alas, I had no way of knowing that when I made the decision to fly to the US. Just transparency would have saved me several thousand dollars and abundant psychological pain. I feel really sorry if you have to deal with these people. If you have the money, go to the US to seek faster treatment. If not, then be harsh with them because they don’t function fast enough otherwise. Literally yell and shout until they treat your case with the urgency it deserves. I’m lucky that my dad is a urology professor who was able to provide a faster consultation and let me know that over 1 month wait is too long given the tumor is borderline grade-2. RCC typically does not respond to chemo, so if it spreads to vital organs that cannot be excised it is a huge problem.
