Job Description

Geophysical field Technicians/Helpers for surveys across Canada and the world. Discovery carries out geophysical field surveys operating in all types of field and living conditions. Projects at times can be isolated, long-term and demanding both physically and psychologically. The category of person best fitted to this type of work is one that generally likes the outdoor wilderness lifestyle, likes to travel, thrives on hard physical work, interacts well with others and is not tied down in a serious relationship, as extended time away from home is hard on relationships it seems. Workers need to be reasonably fit, possess a positive attitude and above everything else work safe at all times adhering to company policy.

Training on all equipment and instrumentation is provided if entering the profession inexperienced. There are no minimal education requirements, but high school or equivalent is preferred. A strong desire to become skilled at Geophysics is mandatory. A valid driver’s license is preferred, but not necessary. Language diversity over and above English is also greatly desired, particularly French, Spanish, Portuguese. Starting wages are determined and negotiated based on experience, but wages will rapidly increase for persons that show leadership and a desire to make Mining Exploration Geophysics a full time career.

Geophysicist, Office and Field, will aid in the design, planning, and execution of geophysical projects, including data collection, processing, analyzing, and reporting. Novice Geophysicists will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and will work under immediate supervision of a senior geophysicist for a term. Minimal education requirement is a bachelor’s degree, complimented by a strong desire to gain knowledge from colleagues.
