About Deepali Fashions

Deepali Fashions is a family owned business. The family has been in the clothing line since 1974, originally from Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The business has been passed down 3 generations with the focus on providing exceptional customer service and quality products. Starting from a small city in Punjab, we expanded into Canada in 2012 wholesaling to stores around the country. Deepali Fashions in Canada began as an wholesaler from a home garage and opened it's first storefront in Calgary on July 25, 2013. With great success and support, Deepali Fashions opened its second location in Edmonton 0n February 4, 2017. From there, we expanded into the bridal industry and established Lavish Bridal Couture - a bridal boutique with prΓͺt-Γ -porter and couture designs.  Today, we've got 2 locations of Deepali Fashions and a bridal showroom with plans to expand into Vancouver and Toronto in the coming years.

Our goal is to provide you with the best and quality products around.

Deepali Fashions is Canada's premier storefront that offers an exclusive non-bridal collection, along with an endless collection of imitation accessories. Our stores in Calgary and Edmonton offer Indian fashionista exactly what they want and a chance to glam with bespoke looks! We have always believed in providing our clients with the foremost customer service along with adequate prices. We provide in house tailoring to best suite our clients needs so that they can have the clothes they like, and feel comfortable in them.

OUR PRICING PHILOSOPHY

How do we ensure fair and reasonable pricing? Many brands in our industry markup their products 5x+ the actual cost. At Deepali Fashions, we believe in volume over profit which means we provide our clients with affordable prices and prioritize sale volumes. Additionally, we've built a supply chain that is 100% controlled be us. All of our products are precisely purchased from direct manufactures and re-checked when it arrives at our export office in Delhi, India. We also design and create a huge chunk of our non-bridal clothing line from scratch. Basically, most of our pieces are handcrafted directly in our production facility and then sent out to our export office to have them shipped to our Calgary and Edmonton locations. Our own line is one of our competitive advantages as each piece is carefully catered to meet client specific needs.

How does pricing work with us?

Competitor Pricing: Cost to produce > Wholesale mark up > Retail mark up

Deepali Fashions Pricing: Cost to produce > Our retail mark up

My family and I frequent this store every time we are looking for something new to wear. I love the dresses and the kids clothes are adorable. The employees are friendly and very helpful. My favorite part is looking at the jewelry and cloth that they sell. They do have some great sales sometimes too.

Hands down excellent selection and prices. Love the service provided here. I have an Indian wedding to attend in the summer. First time at an Indian outfit store, the girls and the owner here made me feel comfortable.

Mixed feelings writing this review. I purchased a Lehenga about 3.5 years ago for my brother in law's engagement party, the outfit was beautiful, very well stitched & they were helpful in finding it. Last weekend we went in there to look for bridal outfits for my upcoming wedding. The gentleman we spoke to said we don't carry bridal but our store in Calgary does, so we thanked him but still wanted to look at things as I am going for a more simple look, he said he didn't have anything to show us & nothing in my size. We sat down anyways & after a few minutes waiting a woman showed us 2 Lehengas & then walked away just leaving us sitting there. The gentleman came over & showed us a couple of short Anarkali suits but seemed super uninterested in helping or showing anything else. I asked to see 2 other Lehenga's & he just walked away. We felt so uncomfortable so decided to check out some jewelry & leave. I plan to go back to purchase some jewelry because prices are fair but I will not be purchasing any suits/lehengas, their customer service needs improvement. Your opinion of "bridal" may be different than the brides opinion so why not show them what you've got when they ask to see things they like. Also, next time someone who is a little bigger walks into your store, don't immediately tell them you have nothing in their size, at least be respectful about it. I already am self conscious of the way I look, adding that doesn't make a person feel welcome & want to come back.

The staff started talking badly about me while I was still there and could hear them... about how I looked at a few different items but did not buy anything. Am I obligated to buy something just because I looked at it? I did not like what I looked at (style, quality of fabric, outrageous cost compared to other shops) so I did not buy it. That means they can badmouth customers in their presence? I'd recommend checking out some other shops in Edmonton on 34th Ave. Don't waste your time here.

I had the most traumatic experience yesterday. My mother in-law and sister in-law (to be) took me to a store to purchase my first outfit for Eid. What was supposed to be an exciting and joyful day quickly turned sour when we stepped into the store. We asked the sales lady if they might have something in my size and immediately she looked me up and down, turned her head in disgust and said β€˜no’ with so much disdain in her voice. Eventually, she pulled out two dresses that she thought might fit me but her disgust towards me was so apparent that I felt really uncomfortable. My sister in-law was so shocked at how we were being treated she immediately told everyone we were leaving right away. I asked her if that was normal behaviour and she said never in a million years was she treated like that. Maybe it’s because I’m fat and maybe it’s because I’m white, I really don’t know but that was the worst treatment I’ve ever received in a store. It was embarrassing to get that treatment in front of my new family. The only good from that moment was the bonding experience afterwards when I told my mother in-law and sister in-law that I love my body no matter what. We all started chanting about how much we love our bodies and we turned that experience into something positive. Shame on Deepali Fashions and their non-inclusive environment.
