Contrary to the last review by Mr. Rowbotham...we have owned at Currents for 7 years and we love it! Guest Services are extremely accommodating, courteous and go the extra mile and the resort management is outstanding! We would encourage anyone to buy into/or rent in Currents. Maybe this is not the resort for Mr. Rowbotham to be a part of and he should consider selling his share and find something more suitable for his expectations.

Convenient and beautiful location. Very clean. Would come back in the late spring or summer as we were without power for 16hours (the whole island not just these cabins) beds were a little uncomfortable but the view made up for that!

Potential new owners or renters should think carefully before you invest in Currents! I have owned a 1/4 share at Currents for more than 2 years. Though marketed as a resort, management is taking Currents in a different direction and unfortunately it is becoming more of a trailer park than a resort. It's a shame! Some owners who would like to sell you their share or rent their cottage to you might deny this fact, but it's true! Initially, Strata Council and management were helpful, respectful and friendly. However, over time, as issues came up, that helpfulness devolved into something less than helpful or friendly. Communications from management, when I receive any reply at all, consistently down plays or dismisses legitimate issues. The dominant theme in managing the property seems to be more about spending no money and doing as little as possible. I wish I had known that before I bought my 1/4 share! Unlike another resort on Pender Island, the main pool at Currents is covered for 67% of the year with an old and reused green tarp! As the pool is a central feature of our property, I asked that Strata Council cost out a proper pool cover. Eventually, management acknowledged that they never bothered to get even a single quote in order to make a decision based on factual information, but that the request was dismissed out of hand as too expensive. Their response included the statement that they don't get quotes (what?), and pulling a tarp over the pool is "the most cost effective method of securing the pool". I told them a green tarp belongs over a wood pile or an old car behind the barn, not over the main feature of the resort for 7 months of the year! Strata Council is on record as stating that the pool is covered only for the winter season. While winter season runs from December to March, Current’s pool is covered from mid October, all of November, December, January, February, March, April and the first half of May. Strata Council says the point is just semantics. What? There is a large difference between covering the pool for only 3 months (the winter season) as opposed to the current practice whereby the pool is covered for approximately 7 months of the year with an old green tarp which eventually fills up with rain water and rotting debris that has fallen into the slurry. 7 months of that produces a pretty interesting composting experiment. Welcome to Currents! Environmental insensitivity. In June 2019 management had a bunch of trees cut back on the property. Some of those trees provided shade, privacy and a nice contrast for cottage owners looking through them out over the property. When I inquired why they had topped a stand-alone tree in front of our window I was told it was necessary to trim the trees in order to shape them. I pointed out that the tree in front of our window is separate from the row of trees they said needed shaping. Importantly, it is illegal to cut back trees in BC that are being used for active nesting, as was the case with the tree in front of our window. Bring your earplugs! Strata Council says they have no control over when the landscaping company they contracted to maintain Currents grounds shows up and start up their gas powered lawn mowers, leaf blowers and edge trimmers. The noise often starts at 09:30 in the morning! Strata Council says they can’t do anything about that…? Furnishings are wearing out and not being replaced! The mattress in the master bedroom of our cottage is worn out and crushed. It is original equipment and over 13 years old now. At the same time management says that if anything breaks or becomes unserviceable it will be replaced (that's why we pay the monthly fees we do). So far I've had no satisfactory response to this issue. This is not acceptable. Think again before you invest in Currents at Otter bay, or consider it for your next vacation. Until management undergoes a significant change in their attitude towards owners and guests, including those who see room for improvement, you can probably do much better somewhere else.

Fantastic location, well equipped beautifully maintained. Everything you need is supplied (almost - bring your own coffee, shampoo, spices). TV, WiFi, BBQ, pool, marina, store and walking distance from the ferry. The Currents team couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, just what I hoped for at this serene Island paradise. Everything was so well maintained an beautiful. Can’t wait for my next visit. Highly recommend

Sigh. Sit back, relax and exhale the white noise of the city. Walking distance from the ferry. Beautiful place to watch the ocean and it's inhabitants. Loved watched the ferries arrive and leave. Surprisingly quiet.

The places are small for our group of 5 but we always manage to squeeze in. They're all nice and clean, well stocked kitchens and nice views. The living room is a bit cramped with one comfy couch a 2 crappie wicker chairs. Super convenient location being right next to the ferries β›΄.

What a fantastic experience!!! Dan and Tara hats off to you both. Sarah and I visited the Marina by boat and were treated like royalty when we arrived. Service was top notch and "no" just didn't seem to be part of their business model. The baked goods were heavenly, the pool was pleasantly warm and clean, the atmosphere was perfect for a getaway to unplug. Don't hesitate to check this place out.

What a splendid retreat place! There is just something so magical about this location. The staff were wonderful when we accidentally left our favorite blanket there - it just arrived at our doorstep within days. I highly recommend Currents and Pender Island when your soul needs to recharge.
