Curious Kids Childcare Inc.

I lived near this daycare for years, so I heard the daily activity there on a regular basis. I’ll start by saying that if you have any other childcare option, please seriously consider any other than this place. Where to begin with the details… well, for one, their website claims that they are ‘child centred’ and ‘play based,’ but I literally never once heard or saw an adult playing with a child in all my years witnessing the daycare. The kids are essentially warehoused inside the building or in their fenced playpen at the house, and seem largely left to their own. There was one child that screamed and wailed for literally hours at a time, seemingly completely unsoothed, on a regular basis (like multiple times a week). Years ago, one staff member – I’m not sure the person works there anymore, perhaps just at their other location? – would shout at the kids to do what she tells them, to drink their water, to move faster to where she wanted them, etc. I never saw or heard anybody physically assault a kid there, but if words can be assaultive, they were at this daycare. It didn’t seem that the owners ever cared to correct or discipline this behaviour. The daycare’s website claims ‘respectful and loving care’ for children, which is once again simply a lie. I know others in the area were as troubled as I was over the years, which you can witness in part by the official complaints made to Island Health. You can find pieces of corroboration for the negligence and lack of quality at this daycare on the Island Health website where they log the results of complaint investigations (multiple) and routine inspection violations (multiple). (Official findings include staff falling asleep while caring for children, unsafe structures near the children, and unsanitary mealtime practices). If I knew my kids were being treated like they are at this daycare I would be furious, and I sure am glad I don’t have to live there and listen to it anymore. If you are considering dropping your kids off at this daycare, I sincerely hope you are able to find another option.
