About Crossroad Community Church
In 1999, Jason Hodson, who grew up in the area and is a local farmer, had just finished his masters degree at Providence Theological Seminary and his wife Barabara, had just finished her master's degree in counselling. Jason began preaching in local churches in the area. During this time, three principle questions were discussed - Why do you go to church? What does it mean to be a Christian? And how can we help your faith grow? By the end of that year, many people were interested in forming a new church in the Kenton area. A core group of people began meeting in early 2000 to create a new mission statement, agree on a Faith Statement, and agree on how the church would be governed. It was decided that the Faith Statement would be based on the founding Articles of Faith of the United Church of Canada (1926). This was chosen because of its focus on orthodox Christian beliefs. The group also decided the new church would be a non-denominational church, which would help people of all church backgrounds feel welcome. We currently rent the Kenton Memorial Hall so the we can focus our resources on ministry activities.
