I truly and highly recommend discussing your debt situation with Credit Counselling Society (CCS) - they are the epitome of professionalism, they are very compassionate and caring and non-judgmental. Awesome program, awesome people. Us Canadians should count ourselves lucky that CCS is available to turn to. A+ in all aspects.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I couldn’t possibly be more upset and disappointed by CCS. I spent 30 minutes with someone who was completely uneducated, told me my debts are too old to worry about having to pay, only to come back after asking her boss and tell me that they can’t even help me at all? Or better yet that they could but it’s not the best option so they won’t. Why did I fully explain my problem on the phone only to be set up with someone who knows nothing about my problem at all? Why did I spend a total of 3 hours traveling to and from said appointment if you can’t help me? My “counselor” literally knew nothing about any debt laws and looked everything up her computer.
Update - A manager did eventually reach out after a few days and did give me some helpful advice. Then after a week or two he followed up by email which I thought was nice, until I realized his entire email was pretty much just asking me to update this review. Was definitely not sincere.
Save yourself some time and just reach out to a Trustee like MNP. CCS can’t do anything to help you anyway and have very inexperienced staff who will tell you to do things you really shouldn’t and can get you into serious trouble. Stay far away from this bad advice. That’s all this place is, bad advice and no help

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was really bless that i made the right decision to go to CCS and ask for help with regards to my situation. My counsellor was amazing. She explained to me all the options i could do and help me picked the right one for me. She then helped me get a financial plan that would help me pay my debt and save money at the same time. I am really grateful for all the help.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best service around. This really helped me better deal with debt-collectors, gave me peace of mind, and greatly reduced my levels of stress. If you have debt-collectors harassing you, call here first and learn about your options and how to continue to live a normal life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I spoke with Claire about my options regarding credit card debt and she was such a kind, compassionate, informative, and non-judgmental person. She gave me a range of options--some of which I was surprised to hear. It felt like she was on my side. I would consult her again in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A family member recommended credit counselling society to me and it took me months to get the courage to call but I'm so glad I did, I'm debt free now thanks to the credit counselling with their wonderful counsellors and every member of staff I came in contact with , truly professional and friendly! I highly recommend this company and you will not regret it!!!!!
