About Country Encounters Accommodations

Our property is made up of 2 buildings. The 1904 building on one side of the street with 4 guest rooms, and the events room. The new building on the other side houses 5 guest suites and Encounters Wine Bar& Small Plate Kitchen. There are lots of decks and patios to enjoy the mountain scenery as well as a number of common areas to relax in.

The area is known for its moderate climate and unique geology, and offers a wide range of activities for every season including world renowned fly fishing, excellent golfing, hiking, climbing, caving, mountain biking, both downhill & cross country skiing, camping and an extensive network of trails for off-road, atv, and snowmobile enthusiast. All in the towering majesty of the Rocky Mountains. The pass is also rich in history, original developed to supply coal for the railways in the steam era. It is well worth the time to visit our historic sites. Whether you immerse yourself in the underground mine tour at Bellevue, or at the Crowsnest Museum in Coleman, you will find something of interest including the tragedies of the Frank slide the Hillcrest mine disaster.

We got here at 11:50 last night still checked in, got a tour last night made our time for breakfast Then we had a good sleep actually! A little short but was good! Woke at 7! They served us breakfast (fruit yogurt, Banana bread, muffin, orange juice, coffee, pancakes, eggs and really good back bacon!) I highly recommend Country encounters in Coleman Ab if your in the area looking for a budget stay that well worth it!

The food, though, far exceeded expectations! We had to make a last minute change of venue which meant finding a new caterer 6 days before their wedding and Country Encounters happily accommodated us and provided a meal our guests are still raving about. Many of them said it was the best meal they have ever had at a wedding. Extremely generous portions, everything was fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. It was worth every penny and more! We ordered grazing boxes for our guests to enjoy between the ceremony and reception and they were filled artisanal meats, cheeses, pickles, olives, spreads, crackers, breads and more…not just your standard meats and cheeses. Everyone was so impressed with the food and the service - we will definitely be using them again and cannot recommend them highly enough!

We were recommended to them from another happy couple and we were blown away how helpful they were. The food was absolutely phenomenal! We have had several guests comment that it was one of the best catered meals they've ever had. The food aside, they were incredibly tenacious and proactive in helping us work with Covid restrictions. As the groom, I honestly barely interacted with them the evening of, they knew exactly what they were doing and did their jobs perfectly. We just couldn't have been happier!!

Because we had our 5 lb poodle with us they delivered breakfast. The location is perfect for taking day trips and a nice cozy place to come back and relax. The Country Encounters wine bar and small plate kitchen...is to die for amazing food. We only had 3 nights this trip, next year we will be staying longer.

Trying to think of another gathering just to have another event here. The owner and staff went above and beyond. Definitely top shelf. 5 stars.
