This place has gone downhill since the original owner (Mike) had to leave. We used to take our dogs all the time, they were always well cared for and happy! Now we are unable to take them because of breed. If your uncomfortable with certain breeds of animals, you shouldn't work with animals period. I've also heard un-pleasant stories since the new owner has taken over. Such a shame. Was a wonderful place.

I was in yesterday for a social test with my dog. She is a German Shepherd mix and I could tell they did not like the look of her right off the hop. I was really bothered by the whole experience, from the judgement I felt was shown to my dog to the inappropriate way they attempted to conduct the social test. I left feeling honestly shocked at what I experienced. I do not feel that the way in which they attempted to test the socialness of my dog was right. I feel that most dogs would feel threatened, if they are on a choker leash held super taught while a group of unleashed dogs are allowed to swarm before even fully getting in the room. She was stuck half on the step with her back against the gate I partly feel that the social test was intentionally conducted in this way as they did not like the look of my dog and did not want her to be properly introduced. It was also stated that because my dog growled she failed. Growling is the way a dog communicates. She had a pack of dogs invade her space, and she couldn't escape because they had her choker leash so tight, she was communicating that she was not ok with that. She did not get aggressive, she did not lash out. She let out two growls when the other dogs intruded and was visibly afraid. I was told that growling is bad because if there is a dominant dog there it will fight her. The dog that wants to fight would be the issue not my dog that is simply communicating! My dog has met many dogs, on walks, at dog parks and at our house and she has always shown great social skills. People even remark on how great she is with other dogs. The place looks so nice I was very disappointed.

I have been taking my dog to Gone to the Dogs North for the last 6 months or so, and I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about this place. My dog has done several overnights and regularly goes to doggy day care. I highly recommend this place to everyone! The staff are great with the dogs, and my dog always runs to them when we get there to say hi. I've had great conversations with the staff and owner, they all care so much about the dogs that are under their watch. They are the only place that actually have staff stay with the dogs all night. Which for my lab/hound mix is perfect, as she has separation anxiety, and does not like to be alone from people especially at night. They even post pictures and updates of what the dogs are up to! I am so glad that Peterborough has a place like this, and I will continue to recommend them!

I have been taking my dog to Gone to the Dogs (with Linda) for almost 6 years. My dog loves going there and I have only ever seen Linda and the staff treat the dogs well. I am thankful that Linda is careful about the dogs that she allows to come to the park, because I know that my dog will be safe. I think that is a responsible thing to do and although some are unhappy with the fact that their dogs aren't allowed at her establishment, it is safer overall for the dogs that Linda does pay attention to temperament and behaviour when assessing potential clients.

We have received outstanding care and service from Linda and her staff for the past 8 years. We have taken our 3 Goldens to her facility with the knowledge that they are safe, happy and well cared for. Linda screens out aggressive dogs who pose threats to the well being off my furry family. She and her staff have always proven themselves to be helpful, conscientious, and determined to create a fantastic environment for both day and overnight stays. So incredibly grateful to have this group of professionals. Thank you!

This is a response to Sean's review. Your dog has stayed with me a couple of times. Very nice dog, but barks 24/7. He had a good time and I am sorry he won't be back. Yes, we raise our voices. My job is to keep the dogs and my staff safe. People need to understand pack mentality. When dogs get overly excited , they sometimes snap at each other. It would be difficult to control 35 dogs without raising your voice. Some of my staff whistle, unfortunately I cannot whistle. Also, excessive barking is not healthy for a dogs well-being. I hope you find a place that better suits your dog needs.

I have had two dogs that have been both loved and cared for professionally by Linda and her staff. Bella my current dog can’t wait to get there and doesn’t want to leave. She just loves it and I love that she comes home so happy and tired!

They discriminate against several breeds: Pitbulls, Rottweillers, American Bulldogs, Dobermans, Akitas and Shar Pei. Real dog professionals and dog lovers know that it's the owner, and not the dog's breed, that makes a dog aggressive or dangerous.
