Cold Lake’s aboriginal history dates back long before Europeans came to the North American continent. Here the Dene Suline and Cree Nations shared the resources the lake and surrounding areas had to offer. Artifacts from dream catchers to fishing and trapping gear are mixed in a story line depicting the history of the Dene Suline, Cree Nations and Metis peoples living on the shores of Cold Lake and in the surrounding area

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very interesting and extensive museum. We spent about 3 hours there looking around. Not just military items although this is what you start with. It could use some more interactive displays to add diversity. No food or drinks allowed in the museum even if it is in a sealed container. Bathrooms are at the entrance only so go before you get to the other end and have to trek back, especially if you have little ones.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 3 hours was almost enough time to read some and skim some. Very good info on Air Force history and some operations. The radar instalation and museum were also interesting. Not sure how up to date the Oil and Gas museum are but interesting to read about the oil sands extraction and how land is reclaimed.
We loved seeing our 60's childhood memories in the heritage section.
I expected more in the indigenous section. There were nice examples of beading and basket work and a few other things. Nothing modern though.
Overall a really good museum and recommend a visit or two. ? ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here yesterday as it was a raing day. Definitely was not what I was expecting. It was a very informative and wonderful museum to go to. I would recommend anyone going to cold lake or to the area to check it out.
