About Clark's Resorts & Outposts - Clark's Camp

Thank you for visiting our website and for considering us as your next Canadian Fishing Vacation Destination. We are Wayne and Karla Clark of Clark’s Resorts, Outposts & Air Service. Our operation consists of 2 Drive-In Resorts and over 25 Fly-In Outposts. We also have a large fleet of aircraft operating under our charter service, Clark's Air Service, which is used to service our Fly-In Outposts, day fishing trips, and other charter work. Our Drive-In Resorts are K.C.’s Landing Resort on the Indian Lake Chain, and Northern Lights Resort on Cedar Lake, both located in the Vermilion Bay area in Ontario, Canada. Our Fly-In Outposts are located between 40 and 150 air miles Northeast of our Drive-In Resorts. They are completely remote, only accessible by air.

We have operated in the tourism sector for over 30 years. We started out with one retail store and a live bait business and bought our first tourist resort in 1991. Today we have the 2 Drive-In Resorts, over 25 Fly-In Outopsts and a very large live bait business. We supply many other resorts and stores in the area with live bait. Wayne's parents, Mary & Gordon Clark started the live bait business many years ago and that is how they made their living. We have one son, Davis who is 28 years old and is a licensed aircraft maitenence engineer. And we have one daughter, Meagan who is 32 years old and works full time for us. She is our operations manager for Clark's Air Service. Meagan's husband, Zack is our Chief Pilot and PRMC for the Air Service. Our newphew, Chris Rob also works for us full-time. Chris has been with us for over 20 years and plays a large part in all of the day-to-day operations throughout the company. We are thankful to work with so much of our family and our amazing staff who have become our family too.

Wayne’s “office” where he works everyday trapping minnows is in the same area that all of our Outposts are. This works out very well as he is able to stop in and check on our guests every second or third day and of course, supply them with fresh minnows and ice at no extra charge! Live minnows are always free when you stay with us whether it is at a Drive-In Resort or a Fly-In Outpost.

We are passionate about what we do and endeavor to do everything we can to make our clients’ fishing trips the best and most memorable that they can be year after year! We thank you for considering us for your next fishing adventure and for those who are already customers, we sincerely thank you for your patronage.

If you need help planning your next fishing adventure, just let us know what type of vacation you are looking for and what type of fishing you prefer, and we can recommend a destination that suits your needs!

If you have any questions about what we have to offer, feel free to call or email anytime! You can speak to either Wayne or Karla or our daughter, Meagan. We look forward to hearing from you! To learn more about us, please follow our blog at www.yournorthernconnection.com.

Sincerely,

Wayne & Karla Clark

Shame on you Clark’s - Keeping customer deposits should never be your answer to saving your business in a Covid year. How hard is it to work with your customers? Find a solution that works for all. The business model of oh well better you than me is selfish. Don’t give these people your money! Update: Clark’s never backed down, kept everyone’s money and then had the nerve to reach out to American customers to come back in 2022. I get that deposits are not-refundable. But when YOU can’t provide the service you should be willing to come to a compromise that’s good for everyone. Basically what Clark’s is saying is β€” Send me your deposits and we will keep them. We may decide to provide you services or we may not but it’s your loss not ours. They have zero credibility, and are being dishonest with their customers. No other outfitter is taking this approach. Please do not give these people your money.

Be careful giving this company a deposit for next year. No guarantee the border will be open for sportsman next year. They will not refund or roll your deposit to another date. My group did not even want a refund we just wanted to book for next year. They would not accommodate us. Said they need the deposits to live off of. Shows the character of the owners. Even though we have not earned your money yet, we need it to live off of. Pretty pathetic response.

Clark's has stated emphatically that our trip's deposit for 2020 WILL NOT be rolled into 2021. Multiple people with reservations have been told the same. This is being discussed on various forums. During this COVID-19 pandemic, we, as customers, can't help the fact that the Canadian Government extended the border crossing ban. Multiple camps across Ontario are experiencing the financial hardship of no US customers until at least end of July ... but only ONE camp refuses to roll that deposit into 2021, stating (verbatim) that "we're prepared to lose some guests over this decision". That's Clark's. So, they're keeping 2020's deposit without a refund ... that's fine, and understandable as most places have similar policies stating deposits are non-refundable. Along with not rotating our deposit to 2021, they're also stating it will be tough to stay in business without ANOTHER $600 deposit for 2021's dates ... yeah, no. You're telling people you may not be in business, keeping their current deposit, and asking for another?? As a customer, I should not be on the hook for financing their business model. I am a customer, not a partner. I don't remember ever getting checks from them in good years ... but I now have to share in the losses in a bad year? Disgusted, and we now won't go back regardless. Their mentality is that they will recoup their lost customers in upcoming years, so oh well. We were respectful & clean/quiet guests, tipped extremely well, and actually helped other customers staying at Clark's (Northern Lights) when they were struggling ... even sharing equipment and bait (crawlers). We did this because we thought it was right. IMO I think this review is also the right thing to do. People have the right to know the mentality of the resort owners they're spending their hard-earned dollars with in advance. Hence the review. Their actions speak volumes ...

I have personally used clarks resorts every year since 1990 and their facilities are terrific from the cleanliness of the grounds/cabins to the boat rentals. If there is a service need it is taken care of promptly. The scenery is also superb. The Clark family are honest beyond reproach. The pandemic has completely disrupted all small business and with the shut down of the Canadian border to the US for over a year has forced especially resorts in Canada to be in a position they never would have foreseen. To malign the character of a business because of their reaction is unfair. You might not agree with their reaction to the pandemic as to deposits but it a result of the pandemic not their integrity.I have reservations for August and September already and hoping the border will be open.

ONLY RESORT IN CANADA to keep their US customer's deposits and NOT roll the money over for when the boarder reopens... absolutely CROOKED

We just returned from an fly-in outpost cabin operated by Clark's Resorts and Outposts. The walleye and northern Pike fishing was very good to excellent! We were fortunate enough to have mostly good September weather conditions. Our group of five caught approximately 800 walleyes and 200 northerns. Biggest walleye was 27". Biggest northern was 37". Very nice average size for both species! Clark's did an outstanding job, before and during our stay. Communications were excellent. The boats and motors were very solid. The cabin was clean and comfortable. EVERYTHING WORKED! We had several mid week checks. Plenty of minnows were provided. Thank you Wayne, Karla, Meagan, and Zach. We are looking forward to our next trip!

Place is beautiful, clean and comfy. Meagan was amazing in arranging and making our stay wonderful!! When our town was evacuated for forest fire, Clark’s let us stay in the resort cabin for free of charge. They had closed the camp site for visitors because of covid 19 , but as soon as our town was asked to evacuate not only they offered free stay for evacuees, also stocked up our cabins with food and toiletries. She also provided us with high chair and playpen for my little one. Thank you Meagan and Clarks!! You are amazing!!

Just stayed a week on one of the outpost lakes. The Clark's treated our whole group like family and very helpful during our stay.
