I'm in grade 7 and 3 months into school and already City View feels like family. We just went out for our white ribbon out reach to raise money to help prevent vilence against women and raised exactly $2520.35. Lots of things such as the white ribbon outreach are mainly prepared for by students instead of teachers giving everything to you and just telling you what to do. The work we are given really does teach us about real issues in the world instead of figuring out how many apples Sally will have in three weeks in math. I believe that City View is definetely a place where you can feel safe and get the support you need. Equality, equity and acceptance to people who identify as LGBTQ+ is actively promoted in City View and we have the ability to ask questions and have them asnwered anonymously so that not even teachers know who asked them. We also have discussion classes if theres a question you want answered in detail and aren't afraid to state out in the open. My personal favourite about city view is that we are tought the truth about the world or at the very least something closer to the truth than we would learn elsewhere, and the teachers are actually very nice and understand if you finish your work late when you actually have a good VALID reason. There are many reviews about cityview saying that theirs too much work and that you will find bullying in cityview, but that's to be expected when your going out of elementary school and into middle school. To judge City View based on bullying seems kind of rediculous seeing as basicallly no other school is different. The only way you could stop all bullying would be to moniter the actions of all students everywhere, have a bunch of people ready to go and intervene and to have very strict rules on language (like extremely) seeing as just about anything you say could be seen as discriminatory or rude. I truly do think that City View is a special experience and i wish that there were more schools like it and that it wouldn't be just for grade secen and eight, I believe all children should get a chance to experience a school like cityview.

Truly an amazing school with extremely supportive and hard working teachers. This school helped my daughter build a solid foundation for her High School and University studies. She still looks fondly back at her experiences at City View Alternative.

Horrible school. Too much pressure on children and not enough support. A ton of work handed out every week with unimaginable due dates, some within days. ISP for grade eights put so much stress on students. Most kids come out hating social justice and thinking it's stupid, rather than actually fighting for equality. If you're thinking of sending your child here hoping they won't get bullied, you're wrong, lots of sexism and classism and ableism, your kid will get bullied. Kids aren't disciplined enough and disrupt class. Very censored, they won't let certain kids come to school when the director or superintendent are going to be there, they don't ever want your honest opinion about things. I tried to write another review but it got taken down right before the open house so families looking for directions couldn't see it. DO NOT COME HERE. YOU WILL LEAVE WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS.

Save yourself from this school by not going, the open house sorta portrays it as a decent school if your into the idea of helping people. but there is way to much work. they say they are preparing you for grade 9 but I failed city view and grade 9 is pretty easy compared to city view (i would 0/5 stars if I could) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Don't trust the other reviews that say this school is bad, because it's really not. The people who say that there's too much work most likely came from schools that gave absolutely no homework at all. If you came from a school that had decent amounts of homework, this school would be no challenge. Lots of exciting activities and Extended Activity Week is really fun with something to do for anyone. Math questions are filled with real life issues rather than: "This person had 30 apples and gave away 5, how much does he have now"? I would surely recommend this school to anyone who's interested in social justice. But beware of crazy BTS fans and never say BTS Sucks or they'll get very mad at you LOL!!

If you’re considering coming to this school please for yourself don’t. There’s way to much work which is way too pressuring and because of the work I have had multiple panic attacks. The boys bathroom is now locked because people have been vandalizing it. Some of the 4 teachers are very biased. This is a horrid school in general. Do not trust the other reviews. For your sake please do not come here. You will most likely regret it like I do.

City View is an amazing school. With our social justice filled curriculum, our assignments and homework usually have something to do with many social and enviormental issues like climate change, women's rights and racism. I would highly recommend this school for anyone who is passionate about social justice and a hard worker.

City View is an amazing school! Today we went out into the community and raised just over $2500 for women's shelters! The extended activity workshops were so fun and a great time to catch up on over due work. Overall a great school and great teachers
