Chutes Provincial Park

Enjoyed camping at Chutes Provincial Park. Very peaceful and well maintained campsites. The Twin Bridges Trail offers great views of the Aux Sables River and Chutes. If you don’t want to hike the trail, there’s a lookout, close to the campsites, where you can get a good view of the river and a small waterfall.

Sep2021: An approachable wilderness in northern Ontario. I've done day-trips here, and just completed a 10 day stay in the radio-free section of the campground and can report "outstanding" ! The water features are the clear attraction, and the serene hiking paths are a close second. Even after 10 days in this relatively small Provincial Park I'm not bored or over-saturated at all. Bring it on! My daily 3-ish km strolls from the campsite inspired both my photography and my Joie de Vivre. Highly recommended location … only if you're ready to soak in nature!

Beautiful park and super grateful and thankful to the staff. Did a longer motorcycle trip with some friends and made a few logistical errors which resulted us scrambling for a place to stay at 11:30pm. The wonderful staff told us the park was full but allowed us to sleep in their overflow parking which we are super grateful for (the parking was actually prime real-estate). Quiet park, beautiful waterfall and basin, wonderful and hospitable staff.

I stayed here three nights. During my stay there were no loud campers and the campground was actually full the first night. The grounds were clean. Vault toilets clean. Showers. Well, some campers are nasty so they were full of sand and hair. So that part was gross. The sites in this park seem pretty close compared to what I have experienced at other parks, but maybe I have limited knowledge in this area. Everywhere you turn on your site you see people so if this isn't your thing you might want to strategically place your shelter, vehicle and chairs in such a way to avoid this. It didn't seem like many sites have good privacy at Chutes. I would classify Chutes as a stopover park rather than a destination park. Yes you have the falls, the river, a nice hiking trail and small beach but after that not much else. Massey is not a tourist town. It's a convenient location being on the trans-Canada highway. It has a grocery store with everything. Chip truck. A couple restaurants and a cafe and bake shop which I walked in and walked straight back out of. The "bake shop" portion looked like an empty display case with a piece of lemon loaf in it. Disappointing. But this is about Chutes. Stop in if you need a place to rest on your long road trip. Enjoy the falls and the peace and quiet and then carry on. Edit: Maybe it was because of the construction on the trans-Canada highway, but at least during my stay I heard a lot of engine brakes from the trucks slowing down. It wasn't annoying but it was noticeable.

Did a quick 1km hike to a rapids lookout. A slight incline in one part and stairs the rest is a good flat walk. Takes about 30m with stopping for beautiful pix. Free Mon-Thur. Camping available and restrooms on site. Dogs on a leash are allowed. If you need to stretch your legs this is a nice detour from the highway

Beautiful Park! We camped here in May and we really enjoyed it! There is one hike about 5km.

Absolutely loved staying at Chutes PP. We had no idea what it would be like here when we booked it but we found the sites to be very nice, the bathrooms are clean and the showers are nice and hot. The best part is the hiking trail though. You must hike the trail if you’re staying at the park or else it would be a shame. Beautiful views of the waterfalls here. The beach area is rocky but very nice to swim. Such a unique spot. We stayed at site 47

Beautiful spot. We parked across from the park entrance and walked in. There is a trail map and we just walked in towards site 92/93 and there’s a set of stairs and walked down by there and back towards the trillium trail for a change of scenery. Worth the view in the winter. Trails were fairly packed down/high trafficked but we didn’t see anyone while we were there.
