Top of the line service from a top of the line multi tenant developer. DISCLAIMER: I do work for one of the family on a regular basis, arms length relationship so to speak.

Had an interview with this company in St Albert, this was three weeks ago. I followed up with my interviewer not once but 4 times just to touch base and find out how long they keep resumes on file. No calls were returned, no follow up with me regarding my interview and no answer to my calls with the messages I left. Disappointing and unprofessional from my perspective.

I worked for Christenson Developments at the Royal Oak (seniors complex) in Lacombe a few years back securing a painting contract there. The experience was excellent. Very professional. Excellent staff. Good communicators.

I saw one of their workers driving a van one day and was continuously looking down at his phone while he was changing lanes and even tuning off into a parking lot. I reported the full details of: time, date , location, what the person looked like and the van details to the company and they never got back to me about it. Guess they don't give a damn about safety.

From the perspective of a resident's family: My mother is in one of the Assisted Living facilities and we have had nothing but problems since she moved in. The good: the place looks nice and the LPNs are generally conscientious. The not-so-good: disorganized and unprofessional in every sense: administration, financial management and patient care. I really don't understand how they can get or maintain AHS accreditation. Patient care example: in February they asked me to take Mom for an x-ray a full WEEK after the facility doctor ordered it: they hadn't relayed the request to anyone until it became a life-or-death thing... literally. The day of the crisis, the LPN called me at work and asked me to take Mom "to any walk-in place. Immediately". Scary on so many levels: nobody had breathed a word of this to us in the week since the doctor had ordered the x-ray. Now Mom was critically ill with pneumonia, and unconscious. The LPN expected me to just pack Mom into my Matrix and go. When I asked how I was supposed to do this they just told me "Oh, there are several walk-in clinics close to here". Right. But she's UNCONSCIOUS, for heaven's sake!! First, it'll take me an hour to even get there. Then: walk-in clinic: hours-long waits on straight-backed plastic chairs... I still can't visualize how they thought this was going to happen. The rest is just as bad: the administrative staff can never be reached: they have a bazillion phone numbers so you never know which one to call, but it doesn't matter. There's nobody at the other end of any of them anyway. No email addresses either, so phone-leave-message-cross-your-fingers is the only recourse. Financial management is so shoddy that if it isn't illegal it should be: they have open access to my father's bank account, withdraw monthly amounts but issue no receipts or statements. We have not been able to wrangle a copy of the current contract either: we requested all these documents last October (it's May now). First they told us we don't need it (who are they to tell us that?) and then months later sent us something that's neither receipt nor invoice nor statement, for three months' payments, for November, December, and January... we needed everything from March 2017 on. We are still waiting for the rest. It is too late at this point to move my mother out of there, but if we had known ahead of time what we would be dealing with, we would definitely have looked elsewhere. The 1 star is for pretty stairs and Christian, the LPN (who has been genuinely wonderful). I truly hope that with new facilities being built by other companies (i.e. competition), Christenson Developments will be forced to become the business they aspire to appear to be. Bottom line: dealing with this company has been frustrating, fruitless, and scary.

Attention to detail was poor. We had construction issues for a YEAR after we moved in and had to go to city hall to get many vent issues throughout the building corrected. Can-Der wouldn't fix anything as they wanted the inspectors to tell them what they did wrong, the building inspectors told them to build it to code. Most of the mistakes were HVac ,like furnace return air actually there was none because the blocked the return air with drywall, the construction site was littered with construction garbage, no boots on the heating vents, exhaust vents not attached to outside dampers, stove vents not hooking up like manufacturer suggests, and outside air make up was left in the drop ceiling, not run to the furnace. There were a few fire system issues that the engineer missed and when brought to Can-Ders attention were shrugged off, not our problem now, the building is passed inspection. After the first winter we found the supply air fan in the parkade running backwards and the control wires in the control panel were not really secured very well. There was no water treatment for the heating water or water tower till after they left our building, the hardness of the water was over 800 PPM. Just recently we had a sewer back up in our parkade that could have been avoided if they were contentious about their work. Again we had to correct that problem so it wouldn't happen again. Oh yes we had many patio doors that had to be reinstalled as the they wouldn't latch. There is lots more in my computer. They did build us a sound structural building that won't burn down on us and the Heating system with Heat Pumps works great. In the end we are pleased, but the construction process and care to detail was seriously lacking.
