Chef Liu Kitchen offers an authentically Taiwanese version of the classic beef noodle soup made with thick noodles and large chunks of boneless beef shank that is "red-braised" (slow cooked beef in soy sauce in a cauldron made with enormous affection from the chef). The bok choy, pickled vegetables, and sliced tomato adds colour and dynamic to the master soup. Try this traditional dish whenever you are in Richmond, and DON'T BE AFRAID TO SLURP. Price: $11.00 (without tax)

We usually buy Taiwanese food from a stall a few doors down. Today we thought we would try Chef Liu Kitchen because it had lots of good reviews. We ordered 牛肉麵, 鹽酥雞,排骨飯套餐。 First of all, the lady managing the front was quite unorganized. A few people have been waiting for their food before I ordered. I have seen 3 people go up and ask where is their food, and she would act like she is startled and all of a sudden remembered they had ordered something, then quickly put their order together. My three items took about 20 or 25minutes. That was a bit too long in my opinion. Then when she called my number, I walked up to the counter to get my order, and realized that she only gave me the pork chop portion of my combo. She forgot the rice and side dishes. Once she fixed the mistake and we finally sit down to eat our food, I was just underwhelmed. The beef noodle soup was very oily, and the noodle was just so-so. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, but not very special. The pork chop was a disappointment. The pork was paper thin, coated in a thick layer of batter. So while it is a nice size piece of pork by surface size you really are getting the thinnest slice of pork possible. After our meal, we were all very thirsty from the seasoning in the food. The entire family was disappointed with the service and the quality of food. We will not be returning to this place again.

One of the best Taiwanese meat sauce on rice (Lu rou fan) I have eaten in Vancouver! Been trying to find a good one since I got back from Taipei. Sweet Memory in Richmond is also good but this one let's you select 3 authentic Taiwanese side dishes for $10.

I was planning to have a lamb noodle soup at Xian noodle in Richmond Public Market and they were closed. I was lucky to have discovered this Taiwanese kitchen just two doors away from it. I was truly impressed by the woman who took my order with kindness and a smile. Well, I ordered no. 1 on their list. Taiwanese beef noodle. I didn't have to wait that long as it's not that busy. The beef noodle was plentiful, generous portion of bochoy, al dente noodle, the beef brisket tender. The dark soup was perfect in flavour just right amount of black vinegar and my favourite chopped pickles which I think they call "wanchay". When I finished and stood up, I gave the nice lady a thumb's up.

I've been going to this family owned restaurant in Richmond public market regularly. The owner are very friendly, their family, uncle and sister all work there to ensure you consistent food quality. It's the best value ....you can get 3 wonderful side dishes alone worth $10 already + 1 main dishes like kung pao chicken, beef stew or chicken nugget spring with hot pepper. Their ca ciang mien ...beef braised noodles also really good. They handmade the noodles, very fresh and you can taste the difference. Good price, good foods, thank you Chef Liu ?

Very oily soup base, you can see a layer of oil on top of the soup. Texture of the noodle, overall taste not bad. But unlike other beef noodle restaurant here they dont have choices of what kind of beef you prefer (they only offer beef cubes). Personally prefer somewhere with a bit more customization (like type of noodles and type of beef etc), less oily soup base. Price is around 13 dollars with fair amount of food. Since it is located inside public market, it can be hard to find a seat.

Amazing Taiwanese beef noodles! The noodles and beef are a standout but the egg (which was an optional addition) was kind of old and the broth was too oily to sip. Still worth it though!
