★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chef 88 is a solid spot if you're looking for the classic "wok hei" flavor in your meal. They have a good selection of Cantonese fare to select from, whether it be Sweet and Sour Pork (with blueberries in it, believe or not), wok fried lobster, steamed fish, fried rice, etc.
I have been to Chef 88 quite a number of times for dinner and lunch with my family and we received pretty nice service overall. Since the wait staff is a bit shortstaffed at times, service can get slow. However, the food does make up for it as there is a wait for tables during the dinner rushes.
In terms of my personal favourites dishes from Chef 88, I have a few for dinner and lunch. For lunch, I would recommend the Olive, String Bean, Minced Pork Fried Rice. The small olive flavour brings a nice saltiness to compliment the crunchiness from the string beans in the fried rice.
For dinner, I would suggest the Sweet and Sour Pork. The pork ribs are fried to a nice crisp to compliment the tangy sauce accompanied by the pineapple, peppers, onions and blueberries all placed on a fried wonton skin.
If you're looking for a great, nice and simple dinner with a big group or small, then Chef 88 is the place to be at.
