Our mother lived in the Empress' Memory Care neighbourhood for over a year. The caring environment helped her feel quickly at ease. The food was exceptionally good. The staff built wonderful, personal relationships while providing a loving, engaging and safe place for Mom to live. Many staff went the extra mile to provide excellent, personal care, ensuring our mother's well-being was a priority. Nothing beats home with family but Empress is the next best thing. The staff and neighbours will be missed. Thank you for making a difference. Sincerely, Claire's Family

My father has been in Chartwell Empress for 5 years and thoroughly enjoys himself. He did his own research before selecting The Empress. At 105 he is still in the independent living part of the residence. When asked how he is liking the residence, he always says he is comfortable. During this pandemic the staff have been amazingly excellent, as well as vigilant and supportive of residents. I have always had pleasant dealings with staff and informative discussions with management. I would recommend The Empress Kanata.

The Empress was my mom's home away from home for almost 10 years. Her needs evolved over this time and the care program she received evolved with her needs. The area manager Bryonie and Kathy, the nursing manager, and the staff in the "Neighbourhood" (the assisted living wing), treated my mom like she was family to them. They are so caring, compassionate and patient -always treating residents with respect. I feel strongly that the extra cost of a private retirement residence over a long term care facility is worth the peace of mind you get when it comes to family members... until such time that LTC facilities can deliver a trusted level of care.

Our mother relocated to the neighborhood in the Chartwell Empress Kanata in July. Our experience with the transition from mum living in an independent living residence to the memory care setting has been seamless. The management team and staff have been very supportive in making this a positive experience for both our mum and our family. The care and attention to detail our mother is receiving has been excellent. The communication from the memory care manager Bryonie and her team has been fantastic! I live in B.C, anytime I have a question, it’s so nice to know an answer is just a quick text away. Also, amazing that if I want to have a quick virtual call with mum, Bryonie has been more than happy to accommodate my request. Even though mum has only been living in the neighborhood for a few months she has adjusted well and is very comfortable with the warm home setting the Empress is able to provide in the memory care neighborhood. Thanks to all the staff for creating a safe, warm, inviting space for our mum to live!

Inez was a resident here for over three years until her recent passing. The family was very pleased that she was surrounded by caring people who always ensured that she was well looked after. The staff always treated her with kindness and respect and every staff member carried out their duties in a professional manner and were always pleasant.

I had the opportunity to be apart of the Chartwell Empress Kanata team as an employee but also as a granddaughter. My grandmother moved into The Memory Living Neighborhood during my time at Empress Kanata. Not every granddaughter can say they were able to see their grandmother everyday and work at the same time. My grandmother loved it in the neighborhood, she would "work" so she could spend the night by helping sweep the floor or set the tables. I still have photos of her sitting in the garden drinking lemonade and getting her nails done. The team always knew when she was hungry, needed direction or just wanted something to do. The neighborhood also had this therapeutic doll and she loved the doll, so much that when she transitioned to LTC I got her, her own. The neighborhood team went above and beyond like they do with each resident that comes through the main doors. I am thankful I got to spend the last 2 years with my grandmother before she moved on to LTC. It is time I will never forgot and I am grateful for everything Empress Kanata did for my grandmother.

My mom is now in the Empress's memory care, which they call the neighborhood. They are taking FANTASTIC care of her! It is a pilot program for Alzheimer patients and they keep them stimulated mentally as well as physically active. She was in another place that was very good but The Empress is WAY BETTER!! Kudos to all of the staff there. Bryonie, you are amazing!

My mother was a resident in 'the neighbourhood ' (memory care) for almost 4 years. The team at Empress made the transition to home as easy as it could be. They supported me in navigating the journey and continue to in the move to LTC. I always felt like I was visiting my mother in a home like environment and not at all institutional. I grateful to the entire team in memory care .
