★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Deserted storefront in empty office building, signage "for rent". Peering inside revealed podium, Kleenex box, ZERO CHAIRS. Was directed there for Shabbat service by woman on phone (rabinett??).
Scoped out address given for community dinner, a toney highrise condo area ~1km away. Rapped with cane loudly on window pictured, an hour before candle time - no Rabbi in sight. Would surely NOT have waited in that area until sundown.....
A Chabad House is supposed to be a welcoming place of refuge for passing Jews, not a deserted storefront, unmanned as darkness falls. If they're laying low elsewhere, the mission from HQ is not fulfilled!
