Caswell Resort Hotel

We visited this resort recently and I must say, such an amazing location for Kids and family who just want to relax from their busy life. Amazing beach, lots of water activities for kids. Nice cozy rooms. Excellent staff, very co-operative and helpful owner. Shallow and clean water at Lake Bernard so you do not have to worry too much about your kids when they do water activities. Worth to visit for sure. Small beautiful village

This little hotel on the water may not look fancy (it was being updated the last time we went) but it is lovely. The staff are very friendly and the water front is perfect for kids (just above my knees for about 100 meters outward). Right beside (like ten meters across) the beach there is a public splash pad and a large park and their private beach had a bunch of paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks for guest use. They also had an outdoor fire pit with chairs and a large grass area for the kids to play. We have been twice now and never been disappointed. It is like a five minute walk from a food land and a bunch of great restaurants too! If you are on the fence just go it is well worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at Caswell Resort. I really didn’t know what to expect as this was my first time staying here. Also, the reviews of this place from the previous owners weren’t exactly favorable. For everything that you’re getting, I think that the price was fair. Not only do you get a clean, air-conditioned room but there’s also a private lake (it’s not very deep so it’s safe), with a beautiful scenery and a few fire pits to enjoy at night. There are also restaurants, an LCBO, a park, and a variety store within walking distance of this place. So, if you forgot or need more of something (like I did) then you don’t really have to worry. Myself and 14 of my friends came here for a little getaway from Toronto for a few days and we all had a good time. I recommend staying here to see for yourself.

Didn't know what to expect when arriving but was very pleased with accommodations overall. The main takeaway and show stopper was the fact you could open your door and be 20 steps from the Lake! Also kayaks and canoes available to use. Clean rooms, full AC (my friends and I stayed during one of the Toronto heat waves) and the hosts were lovely, attentive and helpful. Recommended!

Late Sept. booked a 3 night stay in a pet friendly room at the Caswell Resort to be close to family. I was not expecting the same standards as chain hotels, but, I figured it would be fine based on many favourable reviews. I was wrong! Our first night in room #15 was dismal at best. Chilly, an ineffective noisy heating unit, a TV that didn't work, the smell of pee (?), but worst of all a horrible bed that resulted in a painful night's sleep. The next morning we inquired about our options. Cancelling would have cost us the price of a night ($149+tax) and the burden of relocating likely to Huntsville. Thankfully we were offered an upgrade for the next 2 nights in cabin 53. It was bearable but not great. This accommodation also had issues issues like: a leaky shower, bathroom mold, mediocre beds, no space or bedside table around one of the beds, dated surroundings, and most concerning an electric baseboard heater that ran non stop in the bathroom making it feel like a sauna! (Note: even management could not change the setting and told us to make sure we left the bathroom door open on departure). Staff was pleasant but unfortunately they were not able to resolve many of the difficulties we experience. At this time of year restaurant options were mainly closed and the only one available in town was disappointing. The location by the lake especially, if you had a water view, and the nice playground next door (if you had children) were certainly assets. That being said the best we could take away from our $500 experience was an memorable story and a life lesson never to return. Best of luck to the new owners in acquiring finances to tackle the many challenges they face in restoring this potentially lovely spot!

Service is very very bad. Room service isn’t working. There’s no tv or phone service available. And there common excuse was everything is close due to covid and they haven’t even mention anything in their website. It was an awful experience. Even they didn’t mention anything about food take out when we ordered food and then we cancel food after waiting for an hour but they’ve still changed us for it. I would recommend that don’t go with the name resort it’s one of worst service and rooms I’ve ever lived in my life.

Horrible experience with management called 4 days in advance to cancel due to a family emergency they answered the phone with a simple hello (very unprofessional) as I pleaded for a refund due to the fact that my mother had suffered a stroke they did not care one bit and put there greed before customer service and would not refund me. I will never book or stay here

The rooms were horrible, and smelly! The washrooms had mould! The structure was very run down! No service what’s so ever! The television was smaller than my lap top screen! Wifi service is terrible! Food available through third party take out arriving cold! Beds very uncomfortable! Heating system very noisy! Wouldn’t recommend this place to no one! We have been going here for 7 years but unfortunately with this new management never again!
