California Nails - Winnipeg

Honestly, it was terrible. The crazy amount of talking in their language was irritating to say the LEAST. Its rude if you're with a customer to do that. I had an appointment with a friend for 5:00 pm. We didn't get out until almost 8:00 pm because they took all of the other people of Asian culture before us. We were the only Caucasians at the time. Very rough with the nails. My nail was hurting for 2 days after. One nail already broke right off and it was, again, only 2 days after. They didn't seem to care what I wanted done, but more what they wanted to do. Or what was easier for them. All in all, the nails were NOT worth everything that we had to deal with there.

I used to go here when I was younger and loved it. Finally came back after 2 or 3 years and the place has gone down hill. I made a last minute appointment for 5 of us, expecting it would be insanely busy on a Friday afternoon. When we got there, there were only 3 other people and they took us right away. At first everything was fine, we got pedicures first which were great. Next I asked for acrylic nails (less expensive than gel). I showed a picture of what I wanted (which was American nails) and the man (I'm assuming the owner) said he could do it. Almost near the end once almost dried I noticed part of my thumb nail was green and I had to force him to take the polish and redo the nail. Then he put liquid gel which is much more expensive without my consent. He asked why I came here and I said because our usual salon was booked and then he started complaining about how they weren't as busy. My friends apparently were told several times they should get fake nails because their nails were "too short". At one point I asked the lady doing my nails if they were able to do an ombré sparkle and the owners wife yelled at me saying to let her do my toes and then ask questions later as she did not speak English. The icing on the cake was when I went to pay and they told my gel nails alone were $55. I asked to explain how they were so expensive and they kept telling me it was because of the design. I had the exact same thing done at city nails for only $35 just months ago so I didn't understand. But after being there for almost 3 hours I didn't care and just wanted to leave. Now, 3 days later one of my nails is crooked and poking into my skin and I'm debating if it's even worth it going back. None of my friends were happy with their nails. Needless to say, we will not be going back.

I went to this place for the first time a few weeks ago for a fill and there were only three other people in there. The guy that did my nails did a very good job, took to the detail of every nail. I just went back for another fill and my experience was horrible. They told me to wash my hands and come sit at a chair and then within the next little bit three more people came in and the guy did all of our nails at the same time. He would go back and forth between steps, I was in there for an hour and a half. They also filed my nail underneath too rough that it started to bleed. There were two others working on their clients for the duration of their time there, which you would expect. When it came time to paint my nails, one of the other ladies came in and very quickly painted my nails telling her client just two minutes. It came out too thick and looks bad. Then when I went to pay I had planned to pay with debit and give cash tip, he said it was $40 and I said debit, then he said oh you don't have cash. While he was putting the amount in the machine I gave him a $20 and said I'll take $5 back and that's for the tip. Then when I went to use the debit machine I noticed he put $45.50 on there.... I just paid it and left.

i think $60 is a bit pricey for acrylic nails, but i'm still new to getting my nails done. the nail techs were nice. she couldn't do the design i wanted, so i settled for a solid colour without gems. i've had this set for almost two weeks now and none broke yet

This is only my 3rd set of nails, so I'm a bit of a newbie. This is the first time I went here and will be the last. Cleanliness of establishment, passable Hygiene practices HORRIBLE I went in as a walkin for a fill , gentleman invited me to sit at a station as he was working on another client. He came over and looked at my.nails and started to file them down, hadn't washed or sanitized his hands between both of us. After he filed them down and told me to pick a color, and went back to the other lady he was previously working on and didn't wash again.... When she left , he invited me to another seat, no towel on the wrist rest, no hand washing and started working on my nails again. He looked at them,.asked my where I had gone previously( I didn't say) said the nails were too thick and started popping them off, SIDEWAYS, USING HIS THUMB NAIL! I should've left then but now all I have is bare thin nails. Another lady then came and worked on my nails. Then he came back and worked on them again , as well as bouncing in between me and a new client. Its such a shame because the nails he did were totally 5+?

Good for simple manicures only. I got an acrylic set $40 and wanted colored french tips and they refused to do it as it would be "too time consuming." Not the place for fancy nails.

I had a guy do my nails here and he did a really good job I took some pictures I was very satisfied customer I paid for what I got and the prices weren't too expensive I am very happy with how they did my hands in feet shellac

Very nice small family nail salon, been running since I was a kid. Got my feet done for my trip coming up and they did a great job on my nails! I would recommend them!, covid has definitely impacted places like this.
