My Daughter was one of the first students to attend this school in grades 7 and 8 and I really hope that they have improved since then. I know the Principal is different so maybe this has made a difference. I was thinking back to her time there and how she was treated. I remember being told by a teacher that she would never amount to anything. So I want to fast forward to today and she is now 26 years old and not only graduated from High School with honours but attended post secondary and is working for a company doing graphic design and also freelancing. She owns her own condo and is currently travelling the world. She is a wonderful, caring person and I think this is despite the bullying she suffered from the administration at that school. I would love to go back and find the teacher who told me she wouldn't amount to anything. I wonder what she's doing now.

Honestly this school was the worst experience, like if I could I would give 0 stars. During my 6 year experience girls were very clique-y and were not open to making new friends. In the end, I wasn't able to make any friends because most did not want any more or would pick on me. I remember once being called to the office for something I did not do (mind you I was only 9 or 10yrs), and the adults would use intimidation tactics to scare me and make me feel worse about something I did not do. I tried to say I didn't do anything but no one believed me. I also remember many times being bullied by girls my age and once by one of their mothers for my eating and socializing habits on a field trip. The old principal and even the new one now, were extremely inconsiderate of my feelings and how intimidating me would impact my growth into adulthood. These events along with many more at this school ruined my self confidence and my early years as a child.

Both of my daughters attended this school from Grades 4 to 9. I can't say enough positive things about CGS. It provides young girls and women with incredible opportunities to explore who they are in a safe and supportive environment. The staff was always ready for any challenges my daughters had. The communication between home room teachers and my wife and I was always timely and caring. The extra curricular programs are strong and give every student a place to belong and feel good about their accomplishments. I'm surprised by some of the comments saying that this isn't a place of inclusion. Our experience was the exact opposite. Both of our daughters were welcomed into the community by their fellow classmates. They were both very sad to leave the school when grade 9 ended. 5 stars isn't enough. Thank you CGS for making a difference to our family and helping to guide our girls onto a their path. We are forever grateful.

We moved to the Calgary Girls School from the Calgary Arts Academy when my eldest daughter was not seeing enough academic growth. We were so amazed by the positive changes that she went through during her first year, entering in grade 7 - she gained confidence, made huge strides ahead in her academic ability, and learned to have a voice of her own. She is now in Grade 10, and is pursuing a technical career in autobody and construction - something she never would have considered before attending the Girls School! I completely credit the wonderful and supportive teachers and curriculum of the Girls School with giving her this amazing foot up in the world. Our youngest child has just started attending the Girls School in Grade Four, and she is loving every minute. She is excited about school and learning, whereas last year in grade 3 she never had anything new to share (from her old school). She can hardly wait for the weekend to be over so she can get back to her friends and the Girls School. I wish there was a way to tell more grade 2 and 3 families about this amazing school so they can find it sooner for their girls. You won't regret a move to this school in any grade.

This school is horrible, please don't send your children here. It would be below freezing in classrooms and they wouldn't even let us put on a gym hoodie because it went against the uniform. The drama teacher would often go on long rants, wasting class time and blame it on ADHD, however she would also lash out with students who actually had the disability. If students complained about the way they were being treated by a teacher, they would often be yelled at by another staff member instead of their issues being taken seriously. Me and several friends who went there all agree that it was a negative experience. The school also does nothing to ensure that people are treated well and the environment breeds drama. After getting out, my relationship with people I knew from there instantly improved when we were removed from that situation. It also made it difficult to integrate properly into highschool because we were isolated from boys and grades were often kept very separate.

No words can describe my disappointment with this school. My daughter graduated a few years ago and I feel the need to speak out. She now requires high quality, expensive therapy and barks at her father. The staff hired a pedophilic teacher, whom if I've been given the right gossip from my girlfriends, he was recently fired. I hope this is true. I pray that this school would strive to do better, after I've heard there's been barely any change.

I have had both of my children attend CGS for for the last 5 years and can't say enough positive things about this program. It focuses on building strong, kind and independent women and very much teaches the girls a fantastic global view on current events. I have had nothing but positive interactions with all of the caring teachers and can't thank them enough for caring for our girls through these formative years. It is refreshing to have girls who act age appropriately and are celebrated for being quirky and different! Can't recommend it enough.

I started at this school in 7th grade, it is amazing and everyone is really supportive. The bus rides can get a bit chaotic ( in a good way ) and overall I really like this school. Oh and by the way, the uniform has many options so it’s flexible for pretty much everyone <3
