Cabinet Express - Calgary

The good: -Free shipping -Cabinets arrive "assembled" including with legs (see our experience below) -Soft close hinges included! -all of the above for a price point similar to the big box Swedish store (However, they do not encourage DIY and therefore ZERO instructions are provided) Our experience: The "In-Stock, Ready to Go" statement means expect a delivery date that is 2 to 3 weeks minimum after getting through the ordering process. To give them the benefit of the doubt, they are obviously busy these days and may just be tripping over themselves to handle all the orders. Our initial order of 5 cabinets took 10 days to arrive at our door--not bad! However we became very frustrated with the following: - a replacement cabinet that we attempted to order beginning on March 2 was not actually available for PICK UP (not even delivery) until March 27. In this case, our designer dragged the process for ordering a single cabinet out over 5 business days which pushed back the availability date greatly -The Lazy Susan addition to the Base Corner cabinet was just a box of parts and to install the Lazy Susan, the cabinet required some disassembly to remove a shelf (none of this is explained). -The base corner cabinet did not have the legs installed (it's too big to preinstall the legs but this wasn't explained nor were we supplied with screws to install the legs). -The dimensions of the base corner cabinet were actually 35.75"x36.25", not 36x-36 which caused problems -The "Design Centre" location was closed when we arrived there (for Covid) but the website still says that it's open. -Nobody answers the phone on Saturday despite the website stating they are open on Saturdays -The website does not offer all available options (like tall versions of all the upper cabinets, all colors of trim pieces) -The location that remains open during Covid is not wheelchair accessible

I don't think it's fair to rate one star because I didn't use their services, but I'm rating two stars for why I didn't use it. I went into the store to browse cabinets and get an idea of what I would like, time frame, and quote. I explained that I was building my own kitchen island and replacing countertops. When I was asked if I would want them to install or my husband, I said it would be me. I was walked around the store and knew what I wanted, but didn't receive a quote. I was told to set up a consult with my husband and I emailed back and forth with the agent to set it up. At the consult, we brought our measurements/drawing of the kitchen with us and know what we want. The agent remembers me and proceeds to give my husband a similar tour to what I had before. Since we knew what we wanted and were only there for a quote, this was a waste of time. Throughout the rest of the consult, I explained my measurements and the shape of the kitchen with drawings, but it felt like I needed my husband to confirm everything I said. It was abundantly clear that I did the research, I made the design, I would be doing the assembly, and I was the one making decisions. But it was my husband who was given the forms, questioned, and, ultimately, the only one emailed a quote. I was the point of contact when setting up the consult so there is no reason I shouldn't have been included. Further, the quote was not itemized how we asked so it was not helpful. I don't think this was done maliciously, or even intentionally, as the agent was nice enough. But this was obviously sexist and we were both bothered by it. I found it offensive that, because I am a woman, I was treated as if I didn't know what I was talking about and needed permission from my husband, who doesn't know how to use a power tool. It doesn't reflect well on a business to assume that I was not the customer.

I've been involved in the business of building and installing kitchen cabinets for 30 yrs, and my experience with Cabinet Express / Zen Living has been very positive. Terrific sales staff, scheduling , and attention to detail. This was a custom painted green kitchen that has turned out flawless. Despite the raging covid and turmoil, this team delivered on-time and without any issues.

Cabinets express provide fast efficient service. They had our quote done within a few hours and delivered the product as promised. These are not custom cabinets but work well for our shop kitchen and definitely for our budget and timeline. I recommend Cabinet Express all day long.

I was pretty impressed at the whole process with my kitchen build. Michelle was so patient with me! I had a good idea of my design, visited the showroom for some final ideas and to pick my cabinet and counter style and colour. I opted to have this kitchen installed for me and their timelines are so quick too. My kitchen looks really good. I recommend checking them out, they have so many options available. I thought I’d do IKEA at first, but could never find everything I needed in stock. Cabinet express took away all my worries! Thanks!

Would most certainly use them again if I ever had another kitchen project. In one word, they are very "Professional". Worked with John Mercer, great support.

After getting quotes the price went up $1400.00 after I secured the installers. Otherwise I ours have cancelled the order right then. Wanted to return one item on $9200.00 cabinet sale and was told I couldn’t return. Wanted to buy 2 extra gable which are 24x36 approximately they quoted over $160.00 which is ridiculous. No other cabinet maker does not allow for returns I highly recommend going to a cabinet shop that gives quotes that they stand by and allow returns for unused hardware like rollout drawer. After paying in full and having delivery delayed by two days the delivery was 5 hours late. Would never recommend a company that doesn’t stand by their quote, won’t except returns of any kind and can’t deliver on time and gouges on price for anything extra.you might want. I never fill out reviews but in this case buyer beware go somewhere else. Before I provided this I tried to speak with their management to see if they would try to make the customer happy unfortunately for both of us they were not interested. You will see from other posts this will all be justified.by Zen and Cabinet express. I know what customer service and making things right looks like. I experienced nothing good
