Story below:
I walked in with my handheld radio, to see if they could test it. The intended purpose was to keep me safe while using FSR. The attendant at the counter took the radio, scoffed and in the most condescending voice "this is amateur radio, we don't touch it". He finished with a brief chuckle. I was in disbelief at how the man treated me. I let him know "that was quite rude" as I turned to exit the building. The attendant yelled at me upon my exit, "those are illegal for use in Canada". I am not upset over their refusal of service, nor of their informing me of my radio status. It was their incredibly rude, unprofessional, condescending customer interaction. What a miserable attendant. If I was politely told they could not work on my radio and how it was not legal for use in Canada, I would have thanked them and went on my way. There was a chance to inform me on radio use and licensing. An opportunity to sell me alternative products, or training courses, and create a good relationship with a customer. The one attendant blew it and has tarnished the image of this business forever in my mind.
