If I could give them more stars I would, I am from Toronto, and am a culinary student. My friends and I came to Vancouver just to try a bunch of restaurants and not to compare any of them. Burdock and Co set the bar so high that nothing has compared to it. The food was beyond words, every dish had me wanting more and more. The poached scallop is one of my favourite dishes of all time. Staff was absolutely amazing, and fit with the cozy vibe. Burdock and co is as the recipe book says a tiny slice!

Delicious, beautifully-presented, thoughtful food. They've switched to a tasting menu ($79 when I recently went) that will change over time; during my most recent visit the theme was "Spring Flowers," and each course included (did not necessarily feature) a flower, including pickled Magnolia petals which I'd never tried before. Service is excellent, the room is relatively quiet, and we had a wonderful time and look forward to a return, and won't wait as long between visits as we had the last time! (I kind of want to try each new tasting menu!) Love that food is so locally sourced. Even something as simple as the butter for the bread was combined with sake kasu, something that's leftover after sake has been made. They get this from a local sake maker (on Granville Island), then age it for a year, then add to the butter. Amazing! Probably some people will think the portions are small, and they are, but that's what I personally prefer: great-tasting, exquisitely-presented, lovely little dishes that sate me without overdoing it.

Disappointed. Was so looking forward to this meal and it fell short. Radiccio salad was so salty and just all round unpalatable. Risotto was much better but also so salty in certain bites. The savory éclair was ok but lacked flavour overall. Duck was tender but served lukewarm and the celeriac terrine, not a good accompaniment as it was served cool with the duck. The desert also failed, as it was bland. Service was great. Felt very bad for the couple beside us who were given a table right on top of the hostess station with a coat hook right above their heads. Overall not worth the $69 price tag for the fixed meal price and overrated.

First time at Burdock & Co and would recommend and gladly go back! Super fresh tasting and interesting dishes. Every dish was thought out with care. The duck was delicious so much so that a few wasps wanted to get in on it too! We sat on the outside patio which was decorated very nicely and off to the side of the restaurant so you weren’t sitting on Main. Our server was very kind and added to the evening. Only critique might be we ordered 2 servings of bread which has 3 pieces each, and I think if we didn’t maybe we wouldn’t have been as full. But overall, happy to have this as one of my first dinners at a restaurant since the craziness of covid.

This place was incredible. The 5 course meal is 11/10. My favorite was the beet root tarte and the duck, wow. I can’t wait to come again when they have a new menu.

No exaggeration, this was the best meal of my entire life. My best friend, who I brought with me said she would die happy if she died immediately after eating. 12/10 on both our accounts. Perfect amount of food, excellent seasoning and service, and they even helped us celebrate our 5 yr friendship anniversary. I think I'm married to the burrata now. Order it. If you're reading this and thinking about going to Burdock, do yourself a favor and just do it. Best meal of my life.

We went there to try their 2022 dine out menu and glad that we did! We had some bread as a starter (sourdough, cornbread, baby scones) with sake butter. The butter had a strong sake flavour which we really enjoyed. For appetizer, we had duck confit and albacore. The duck confit was served with waffle underneath and crème fraîche and a tough of citrus which was a well done combination. The albacore was on a bed of congee with mushroom and scallops which was served with fried egg; it was exceptional! You could taste the umami of the mushroom and scallops XO and it was well balanced, though we thought the albacore was extra. For entrees, we had pork collar and cod loin. The cod was over cooked as it was really dry but I liked it with the aioli. The texture of pork collar was tender and juicy and the taste was delicious. Over to the desserts, ricotta cheesecake and einkorn cake. It’s not like a typical dessert we’d have but really enjoyed the einkorn cake because it felt organic and healthy. The cheesecake wasn’t something special but it was good. All in all, I’d definitely recommend people coming to try their dish once; however, please be mindful that the portions are very small. We actually went for another meal after this.

Came here for my moms birthday to celebrate and try their tasting menu, which is $79 pp. The ambiance has an underground New York vibe and although the price isn’t cheap, the vibe is relatively casual. It was a relaxing vibe that I really liked. I also talked with the host and m the chef who creates the menu has a strong Japanese and Nordic influence, which may give some insight to their menu. The portions were small, but everything was generally good. The bread was a strong start, habing cornbread, sour dough and milk buns - all of which paired perfectly with the aged saku kasu butter. Other things worth noting was the Rollins cod, which was cooked perfection. I also thought the tart was a great way to end the tasting as it was less rich, good level of sweet and left you content. I will say all the dishes were very flavourful, having ingredients I’ve never heard of, which is always nice to have. They made a good call with the portion size of the dish because it was such a rich flavoured tasting menu. With that being said, it’s not a place to come when starving because you’ll probably have to snack at home after! The servers did a great job of explaining the food, however, my big complaint was the pacing of the food. There would be times where we were waiting for 15-20 minutes for the next dish to arrive and I feel that takes away from the tasting experience when you just feel like the momentum has stopped. What could’ve been a 1.5 hr eating experience turned into an at least 2 hour experience because we were waiting for the next dish. That ruined it a bit for me, but I may just be picky as well. After we left, I wouldn’t say I’d return. However, if pacing of food was better, I think it’d be more worth the price point.
