About Building Products of Canada Corp. (BP Canada)

Working towards Zero Waste in the LaSalle and Edmonton roofing plants, the company has agreements with several manufacturers to recycle shingle waste into paving asphalt and to use as fuel in cement plants.

The Edmonton plant operates a paper recycling depot, part of the city’s network of recycling drop-off centres. On a yearly basis, the depot collects thousands of tons of waste paper used in the production of felts.

All of the cellulosic fibre used in the manufacture of the company’s wood fibre panels in the Pont-Rouge plant is from post-industrial and post-consumer waste. These panels contain absolutely no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, HCFC or Pentane. In the manufacturing process, residues that cannot be recycled to create new products are converted into safe fertilizers that are given to local farmers. At the end of the building lifecycle, 99% of these panels can be recycled.

BP’s focus on the future assures that sustainable development remains a core driver of its strategic plan. With a commitment to respecting new environmental regulations, the company offers a line-up of environmentally-safe products that promote energy efficiency and sustainability. Sold under the Eco-Logical banner, they include interior and exterior insulated sheathings, air barriers and acoustical panels.

BP supports and manufactures in compliance with government and industry ecoENERGY standards and programs. BP is a member of the Canadian Green Building Council and manufactures FSC® (FSC-C113184) fibreboard products that meet LEED guidelines for reducing a building’s energy consumption.

Too bad there wasn't an option lower than 1 star. We've submitted a claim for our 20-25 year shingles which were discontinued for cracking. Now after only 15 years not only are we experiencing cracking, but now have water leaking as well. BP has yet to get back to us regarding our claim after a month of no response. I guess this is when we call insurance and look at how we can take legal action. You'll be hearing from us very soon, that is if we get an answer.

If you own these shingles, I hope you don't have any wind in our area. BTW the warranty is brutal.

*WARNING* Buyer beware! We had B.P Shingles installed last October 0f 2019. They are already failing. Shingles are cracking and split, excessive granules are falling off and one of the shingles actually already blew off. We spent 20 grand on shingles. I am still waiting for a response back from B.P or any sort of Warranty confirmation after contacting them back in may. It appears to be very common for B.P to not Warranty there shingles or stand by there product!!

The warranty department at BP Canada is non-existent. We've been trying to get a response since April, without even a "we're still working on it" reply to multiple e-mails. If you care about the warranty offered, find a different vendor.

We purchase a huge amount of roof asphalt shingles every year. BP is one of the asphalt shingles we sell and install the most in Edmonton, St. Albert and surrounding area. Their new products exceed our expectations with now rubber in them. They have a large variety of colors, their price affordable and a good quality in terms of roof asphalt shingles.
