Bright Habitats Inc - Edmonton

When we met the staff at the Home and Garden Show, we were super excited to work with them, especially because they promised transparency in their work. I thought we had a great first meeting with Chris, the owner, and a landscaper of his. He recommended we work with a designer they use to come up with a design plan for our backyard. We were agreeable to this. He said he would have their project coordinator, Christine, set that up for us. Christine later emailed and said the service costs $1000. I asked for more details on what was included for that price. She sent me the designer's website for more information, where I noticed the prices quoted there were half of that - $500-550. When I asked Christine about the discrepancy, she said the designer's prices had gone up and were just not changed on the website. My gut was telling me to look further into things, so I called the designer but didn't tell her we were potential Bright Habitats customers. She was lovely, had availability to book us into an evening or weekend appointment within 2 weeks, and her prices were exactly as advertised on her site. I went back to Christine and suggested I make the appointment by myself, pay the designer directly, and then share the design plan with the company. Christine almost immediately calls me, again lies and says that the designer is very busy, is super booked up, and doesn't take outside customers but just referrals from their company. WOW. Essentially, Bright Habitats was trying to make $500 off just referring us to a designer, and tried to lie about it. If that's how much they were trying to rip us off from the get go, there's no way I would trust them to do anything else for me. Liars and thieves... If they try to say otherwise, I have email and phone recording receipts!
