We lived out at Bonnie Lake in the late 80s/early 90s and it truly was a magical place for myself and my family. If you have the ability to purchase a new lot, buy an existing cabin/lot, or just to visit, please do so. You will be glad you did. On a more serious note, lets hope these new subdivisions won't diminish the magic of the place with eyesore properties (as that will be your view coming around the corner into the main resort) and excessive traffic, as all that subdivision land has been empty for the entire life of the resort. The road is paved now, but it is narrow and will have plenty of golf cart traffic in the summer, so plan ahead. The website subdivision lot photo where it shows the blue lake coming in north of the new subdivisions, that part does not really contain water on the west side of the road(stage 3)(mostly cattails since the 70s (or earlier) and at one time a sand track for quads/trikes and such) so there will be no logical lakefront property there. As for the east side of the road(north part of stage 5), water will come and go over the years, due to the are being more of a swamp rather than being a real part of the main lake. This year (Sept.2020) the accumulation of water is definitely on the high side. Keep in mind you busy water sports folks, that this is a lake for relaxing, it can not handle giant wake/ski boats, nor will you be able to swim there during many summers due to swimmers itch and other algae issues, based on the shallowness of the overall lake structure. As for new lot purchases, work out how you intend to get fresh water (our well was unproductive at times) and how to get rid of your sewage early on in your lot planning stage. Internet: I believe internet connection is only available via satellite, so if you need fast and reliable connectivity, you may not have it. Crime: Vilna and area has seen a dramatic spike in break and enters, with extensive damages. Keep in mind that the RCMP will not arrive for an hour or more (or ever) depending on the crime or emergency. Hospital: closest hospitals are in Smoky Lake or St.Paul. Those with medical conditions should be aware. Summer time is quite busy and will allow for plenty of socializing, golfing and relaxation. All in all, Bonnie Lake Alberta is a great place and I hope you all have the ability to experience it in the same way as I did. Best of luck on this new subdivision Ed. Top notch lake lots. Plenty of room, very well setup. Excellent playground for the kids with great tennis courts. Will be coming back

We have been coming to this beautiful resort for years. Well maintained roadways for the kids to ride their bikes, and nature walkways. Family oriented activities along with a fantastic playground for the kids, tennis courts, and sandy beaches. A great golf course and the Village of Vilna is near by for a quick run for supplies. Highly recommend if you are looking for a community minded resort get away thats suitable and enjoyable for all ages!
